Problems with TV

OK, i was just taking pictures of my PS cars when i realised that you could see the reflection of the lamp which wasn't even on the screen and all these black bars cutting out parts of the frame.
it looks like there is a huge black stripe on the screen. could it be my tv bcoz i use a '98 model 51 cm sony (non-flat screen) but i do have a rear projection tv. would the images be more crisper on this or will it stay the same coz i think its the CRT in my current tv which is doing this. parents don't let me play on the big screen coz it stuffs up the globes and the picture is sall fuzzy. should i risk my tv for 10 beautiful images of my cars. also the wii and PS2 versions don't have online so i can't take the pic on my comp. any help?
