For example the Type R from memory is actually a hatchback and has more tech, as per any Type R really, and the rest of them may or may not look slightly different or have different trim levels. And price.

I drove a new Type R at the weekend and it was utterly gash. Very very understeery, lacked any real feel and seemed far too heavy for it's power.

The interior on them is too "wannabe futuristic" and they're ugly and impossible to see out of the back.

Sounded quite nice though, and I'm sure it's reliable.

Yeah, I've heard a few reports of the new Type-R being rubbish.
Compared to the previous Civic Type-R it's heavier, yet with no extra power and it's gone from IRS to a soild beam rear end. Honda put all their effort into just making it look flashy.

And it doesn't even succeed at that. The Astra VXR looks a million times better. And is quicker, ect ect.

Only problem is TORQUEEEE STEEEEEEER.
And the chassis in general.

I test drove the last gen CTR, but wasn't at all impressed, cause just like Steel said, it understeers ALOT, and it doesn't feel as fast and nimble as my own CTR, it just isn't much fun at all, and like said it's trying to hard to look fast but it's just heavier and doesn't have a good suspension setup.

OK, nevermind, maybe I should have clarified more: as far as I know, the late-'90's Civic Si and Type-R are the same, as are the hatchback (2005-ish) Si and Type-R (and even then I could be wrong; they could have different HP outputs or something for any number of reasons). Where it gets complicated is the 2006-and-later Civics - the American, European, and JDM markets all have different Civics now (WHYYYYY did they make it so complicated now? :?) The American one comes in coupe and sedan, the European one only comes in hatchback, and I think the JDM one only comes in sedan (not sure though, haven't seen any pics of a Civic coupe currently sold in Japan).

Seen as I suggested the new Golf, how about the new Scirocco?

Sorely contemplating getting one myself.

Unsure of release date but It's about £20k here in the UK. 200bhp, adaptive suspention, fantastic looks.

I've been secretly planning on getting one then hacking it to pieces, fitting the Haldex drivetrain from an R32 or S3 and running a twin-scroll GT35 on the 2.0 TFSI engine

The 01-05 EP3 models are also diffirent, The EU Type-R has 200 HP and the JDM Type-R has 212HP
And the US SI has 160 HP, the JDM and EUM are basicly the same but have a slightly diffirent power output.

Ummm, Koenigsegg, I'm not sure if it's getting released in Australia at all...

If I remember correctly, all we're going to get is the Golf Mk6, and the Sicorro won't be making it to Australia.

Anyway, have you/she considered a Ford Focus? Even Ford Fiesta? Or a Mazda 6?
