Well for me, since my 'maximum' resolution - as defined by the driver- is 1680x1050, I had to go to 'Custom Resolutions.' In the box that comes up there's a check box with the word "Interlaced" by it, which allows you to choose between interlaced (if checked) or the standard progressive mode (if not.)

I don't, I'm just saying I would get a similar problem to his when I ran 1080i, which I was only running because I was testing my monitor to see if ti was full-HD capable.

It says that the Interlaced mode test crashed and it's reversing to 1080p. :|

I take it it's not 1080 native? If so, it's probably not full-HD capable. My monitor can display 1080p fine, but it can't display 1080i because it pushes it to far... it's just the way it's built I guess.

Hnh? 1080p is higher quality than 1080i. If one can do 1080p there is absolutely no reason what so ever to use 1080i.

Interlaced (I think,) puts more stress on the monitor, versus having the whole horizontal line displayed (progressive.)

The other side of that, I guess, is the fact that monitors are made to be run in a progressive form vs interlaced. As for why 1080p won't run on his desktop, I don't know. 1080p doesn't look quite right when running it from my computer, but when the Xbox 360 is running in full HD it looks terrific... once again, idk why. :?

It's Full HD, but I don't know why it doesn't run 1080i.

Because PC's weren't ever meant for Interlaced, so neither are their monitors. With interlaced you can get a slight stutter as it updates the different pixel lines, causing lower frame rates. PC's have always run Progressive, at least for as long as I've used them.

And I forgot to mention that when you're running on 1920x1080, you can't change the refresh rate. The biggest one is 60Hz, which I think causes this flashing thing.

Any of you guys encountered this?

Not at all. And I run 2 completely different monitors on the same PC. It runs at 60 Hz which is ample... that's more than what PAL TV runs at. However, run it at 1080p... 1080i is inferior and there's no benefit on a 1080p monitor.

Howeverm I am running it on a HDMI cable, so maybe the cable helps.

That's a good point, are you using HDMI, DVI, or VGA?

I have my Xbox on HDMI and can run 1080p just fine, my desktop on DVI which struggles at 1080, and nothing on my VGA port, (saving it for a backup computer, soon to be built.) :P

Polaroid. Didn't want to go after a high end brand like Sony or vizio, even though vizios are smexy. I have to save money up for other things.

Vizio's high-end? We have a Vizio TV and it's not even full HD. =/

None-the-less, does it have anything like an HDMI port, and what size is it? :)

What's Vizio?

I wouldn't call Sony that high end... midrange usually, but their top of the line Bravias would be high end... but high end is stuff like Pioneer... Bang & Olufsen, lol

Vizio is what (I would consider) a knock-off brand that's really been trying to "make a image" in the past few months.

We have a 29" downstairs, and my brother just bought a 32" for his dorm room (WTF?!) and while they are only 720p native, I can push our 29" to full HD via HDMI.

Um... bump?

I didn't really feel that this was thread worthy, so does anyone know of a 17-19" LCD that's fairly light (needs to sit atop a 360,) has a good (AT LEAST 1000:1, preferably around 2000:1) contrast ratio, and HDCP-Compliant HDMI AND DVI?

I'd say the top of my budget is $200, hoping to find one for more around $150, but I can stretch it. I found my 22" With HDMI and DVI for $200, so figure there has to be a decent name-brand 19" with HDMI for the 360...

If not, I'm seriously considering this one.

Try BenQ... I've got one that's served me well... I have an E2200HD... 1080p 22", colour reproduction was good for a cheap monitor and I did a DVD cover on it for the school DVD and the colours turned out fine. Pic quality is good too. Good price- $235 AUD for a 1080p screen, HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs, speakers, headphone jack, etc. etc. So if I was to recommend a brand that will perform well for a competitive price... I'll throw BenQ in. I have 2 and they've served me well. This is a 19" 768p one http://www.benq.com.au/products/LCD/?pr ... ifications. 16:9 so good for the console. But there's always the G series which is a bit lighter too. Shop around and it's good if there's a demo model.

I've got the E2200HD too, and yeah, it's the best HD monitor you can get for the buck.

And yeah, I think, you can get one there.

Parents just got this thing. They barely use it during the day so I can boot my PC off of its HDMI port.

Btw, It plays ripped MKVs right off USB sticks. Its got 240hz refresh, and the contrast on this thing is nuts.

I cant wait to try Mirrors Edge maxxed out. Ill be able to do comparison pics of my 360 and PC on the same display.

LED TV is truly spectacular.
