Felix's 1996 Nissan 200SX Project

Post by Felixkissa »

Took me long enough to get this topic started but here it is.

My ride is a Nissan 200SX with SR20DET engine. The car was first registered in Germany 1996 and was imported to Finland in November 2005 by me with a help of friend.
At that time my plans were simply just running with stock engine and turbo with better flowing exhaust and raised boost.

Here's the car when it had arrived.

Then there was a little accident in March 2006.
For this I got 10k€ from the insurance company (the car had cost 12k€ imported with tax  ). Almost 7k€ went to the repairs but I still had the 3k€ for other mods :D

This was after the repair with fresh new paint.

First mod was changing the fuelpump for a Walbro unit but then came the exhaust. It's a custom 3 inch S/S piping turbo back with 2 silencers and 3 inch cat or decat. Now running with catalyzer. Also the manifold was change for S/S tubular one.
This was at the end of summer 2006.

Then came some smaller mods like clear front and side indicators and crystal corner lights. Also I installed HKS adjustable wastegate actuator and a bit later Greddy Type-RS dumpvalve. With the wastegate actuator the boost raised to 1bar. Also installed cheapest Greddy strut braces to front and rear.

Not the best of pictures there's the next mod: FMIC. This was done early winter 2007. The intercooler has custom polished S/S piping.

The biggest modification I've done myself so far has to be front brakes. I replaced the stock 280x30mm discs and the cast iron calipers with 296x32mm R32 GT-R drilled discs and R33 GTS-T billet calipers. Also the rubber brake hoses were change to steel braided ones. This was August 2008.
I've also replaced the rear calipers but only with STD working units. I had too many problems with the cars original calipers that I decided to get rid of them. I did refurbish the "new" ones before they went on.

So that's pretty much the state of the car at the moment.
Here's some pictures of the now.

Those LED rearlights I've bought from Ebay in spring 2008. After that there was no Nissan-badges or stickers on the car. I like a clean look. Spoiler was removed with the accident repair.

Is the dump valve atmospheric or recirculating?

Looks tidy, especially after the little run-in it had ;)

Yes, it will need remapping and a boostcontroller which will be mechanical not elektronic. Z32 MAF was also missing from the list. Also widaband AFR-meter would be nice as would be oilpressure cauge.

The dv is atmospheric and the engine works fine with it.
In the little fender bender it was mostly the tins that were damaged. The garage did really nice job with fixing it tho it did 3 months  and it wasn't because of the amount of damage.

Oh, last night I ordered the turbo :D

Looking good, man - nice and clean. What would really complete the look would be if you replaced the front grill thing between the headlights with a mesh one (know what I'm talking about?) - but I guess that comes later, after performance mods :D.
