Upcoming Site

Before anyone reads, this will be a NFS Unlimited hosted site so it's not cheap advertising.

As some of you know Sergio and I are working on a movie project called Supra Dreams. I got the bright idea of approaching bobyx with a website. Along with the movies Sergio and I make, we will have user movies, as well as movies from other racing games. http://movies.nfsunlimited.net will be the address and the title will be: Underground Movie Productions.

So why the heck am I telling you this if it is not out? Well Frankly because I need a logo. I do graphics myself but I just can't seem to come up with something good for a header image on the site. So! If you are interested please feel free to post the logo. Dimensions need to be 800x150 - The main site color is #553434 (a very dark red). I would prefer to have a small collage of sorts. Various NFS:U cars and maybe a nice shot of a "city" or whatever. But it's up to you. It needs to have the title (Underground Movie Productions) somewhere on it(and noticable too). Please realize I can't offer any sort of payment for this, I'm just looking for a "donation". You will be give ample credit on the site for your contribution. Feel free to post them in this thread. If I get alot of good ones I will have a random image script put on the site to display more than one.

Also, anyone with movies already made can go ahead and put final touches on them and get the ready to be submitted. We will need content ASAP. Anyhow I will be posting again once the site is launched and there will be a list of requirements for videos and such.

I see a darker color red and a lighter color red but no pink. You want pink? Try THIS.

Besides I believe I said that is what I have so far and that the site isn't released yet. Thanks though.

how big can the movies be.... mine is now like 20 Gigs... lol... uncompressed ofcourse....... will be 3.5 minutes so.... around the size of Urq's movie

Well I'll let you know when it's up UrQ. I don't want to be one of those jerk sites that puts other peoples movies up without permission. It'll be up to the user

I'm thinking we'll have a staff of sorts, more-less our production team that will basically be constantly working on movies. Guess I shouldn't get ahead of myself though and get the site launched

bobyx just got me all setup. So technically UMP is online except I haven't even finished the website yet. I have alot of content to work on right now.

Also: I'm in dire need of a header image. If anyone can or is work(ing) on one then please let me know

Looks like my timing is spot on, having just thrown a movie of my own together! The big question for me is size limitations - will there be a filesize limit? If so, what's it gonna be??

Still no header images

I'm actually not sure. One thing I do know is that everything needs to be in zip format. Least that's what bobyx told me(what he says goes). It actually depends on how big it is. 20 megs sound fair? If you have one that is more than that then I guess that will be fine. Mainly it's gonna be an issue of getting the file to me then me uploading it. I'm actually not sure about all the details of that. I actually don't know how large the average movie is. I tried getting to UrQ's site to see about his but both links I tried didn't work. I guess just post the video length and size so that I can get an average and set a meximum file size. I'm still new to this whole "movies" thing

Okay, so I've been messing with video quality settings to see what's what myself, here are the findings so far for my 6 minute vid...

'Dialup Quality' - 160x120, 30kbps - 1.8Mb - Tiny & awful quality
'Broadband Quality' - 320x240, 300kbps - 15Mb - Size ok, quality ok
'High Quality Small' - 320x240, 900kbps - 34Mb - Size ok, quality good
'High Quality Large' - 640x480, 1600kbps - 87Mb - Size good, quality great

Given this, I'd like to see any limit up over the 30Mb mark, but I'm not sure how realistic that's gonna be... Hope this helps!!

Yes it does alot GT3. I think I'm going to make the limit 50 megs unless it becomes a problem. If you have a video that is larger than that I reccomend splitting it into two parts. As for how I get the video, who knows how that will work out

Perhaps the best arrangement would be for bobyx to write a upload script for videos that would queue them up somewhere on site for you to manage and transfer to the new video section, much the same arrangement as the car showroom.

This would mean that the vids are already on site by the time you hear about them, therefore the transfer process simply involves the relatively painless process of moving a file on the server, rather than requiring the full download and re-upload arrrangement...

Stero I'm happy you posted a banner, I really hate to do this but I can't use it!

I really must sound like a jerk, and I hate to be picky but the banner needs to be 800x150 and follow the color scheme of the site. http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/jobs/mywork/ump/ for a preview. Again thanks for the post, if you could fix it around a bit and put the name of the site in it then I will put it up with no questions asked(unless it totally sucks). Even if it does really suck I might put it up anyways as a temporary

Supra should be a different color, possibly White. It sucks when dark blue, as that color you picked is very tough to match. Only with similar tones (like your pink, which yuo call light red) or contrast (white, black). Try that.
