Getting Left Stick To Steer

Using the PS3 with a aftermarket controller (Logitech) NFS ProST. Gamepad that came with PS3 is fine but the Logi left stick will not steer the vehicles only the thumb pad will. Any idea on how to switch from pad to stick ? At first the Left stick did work but now it is only with the thumbpad. And
DAMN"IT do I hate using the pad to steer, I am
DWI with that !!!

Umm... what?
Explain more clearly.. Model of the logitech controller? I can't really tell what you mean by "thumbpad" Are you reffering to the right stick or the d-pad?

I appreciate the reply. I hope I am not outdating myself here
It is a Logitech Cordless Precision hand controller mod.#G-X5C11A. What I refer to as a thumpad is a plus sign with North South East and West settings. The controller has 2 Sticks and the thumbpad is to the left of the Left Stick.
