I know i couldve picked a better car to use as a track car, id be a millionare by now if i had a penny for everytime someones said 'why not get a corsa and put a red top in it'......well ill tell your why, because i dont want to and corsa's are girls cars

yes its a hideous monster with body roll like a dingy in the perfect storm but i can change all that :D

on the list are coilovers, roll cage(found a mk2 escort one which im gonna chop about to fit), front and rear strutbraces, banded steels or possibly just some wide alloys. more power is gonna be courtesy of some carbs, 4-2-1 manifold, ported head and some lairy cams

Sod carbs. Get yourself some Yamaha R1 throttle bodies and a manifold made up. Mind need a half-decent diff, or a rebuilt box though.

The VDub guys are running upwards of 200bhp out of 2l 16/20v's...

Good luck with it, but I won't hold my breath. Even with a proper structural weld-in cage, coilovers and braces all round, it's still going to roll, dive, wallow, flex and do everything you don't want a track car to do.

carbs are cheaper tho and i wont need to run aftermarket management(id have to with a turbo aswell)altough i may upgrade to TB's at some point and there is a kit from DBLIAS which retains the standard ECU MAF etc just basically has the ITB's and uses a common plenum which draws air past the MAF which the ecu remaps itself to the new readings but i am very skeptical of it granted ive seen it work but its far from ideal as the ecu would be doing a lot of guesswork and may throw its toys out the pram and go into limp mode

its a big car and i know its never gonna outhandle a sorted little hatchback but ill be having a lot of fun trying  and if i bash it i wont be bothered :D

Megasquirt all the way. You can do a pretty decent map in a weekend with a laptop and some axle stands. Not cheap, but it's bloody worth it. People run it on everything, from turbo'd Polo 1.3 8v breadvans, to custom ITB'd civics to big turbo converted S2's.

yeah megasquirts one ill be thinking of in the future, but as you say bit expensive so may use the carbs until i can get the cash for it

they were the innards of a catalytic converter :D and the welding was from me having to cut the cat off the front pipe and weld it back on :D

lol, yeah I forgot that the cat on these cars is cast iron. Good to see I'm not the only one running a gutted cat :) . . . although mine has a straight pipe going through it too.
