WIP Streetracing game - currently unnamed

OHAI!

Well, as the title suggests, I'm working on new Street racing game in the style of NFSU, Juiced etc.
Currently do not have a name for it yet.

Some of the things you can expect from it;

-semi realistic physics
Not trying to be Forza or GTR here, but I definitely don't want to be as arcade as NFS.

-realistic car specifications
Accurate values of Power/Torque etc. You won't see a golf keeping up with a GT-R.. no way :)

-No arcade behaviour such as replenishing nitrous and rubberbanding AI

-circuit/point-to-point/knockout/drag race modes

-100+ cars
Not sure if all of them will be available at initial release, perhaps a part of them will release later like an "expansion pack" or something. Here's the list: Clicky! (.xls)

-plenty tracks (don't know exact amount just yet)

-Car customisation
bodykits, rims, spoilers etc etc. No massive rice with outrageous kits or spinners though.

-Day/Night/Rain options for all tracks

Some things that you might see;

-multiplayer
this is something really extensive and not exactly a part I'm going to worry about so early on

-Car damage
Currently can't say yet if it will affect performance and handling (I hope it will though).

-drift mode

-engine swaps

-incar camera (very big maybe)

Things that you won't see;

-licensed cars/parts
definitely not happening, no way I can pay for that :)

-police
Leaving that to NFS

-traffic

-free roam
too much work and it's hardly ever properly used anyway

Media

Currently don't have much to show, but I'll add things over time.

Small customisation demo (Unity webplayer required)
Click me
You can use the left mouse button+drag to turn the car around, much like in NFSU2 and similar.
Currently contains: CR-X, 155 Q4, Supra

F.A.Q

Q: What game engine are you using?
A: Unity3D.

Q: What will the graphics be like?
A: Trying to give it my best.. I'm hoping for something along the lines of NFSMW quality (the original, not the upcoming one).

Q: What will the system requirements be like?
A: I'll know more about that when I'm further in development.

Q: When will it be released?
A: When it's done.

Q: How much will it cost?
A: Don't know yet.

Q: I like what you're doing here, can I help somehow?
A: YES! you can in fact help with a lot of things:
-I still need a good name
-If you own one of the cars from the list, you can really help me out by providing sound recordings.
-If you think you are good at designing things, you can help design bodyparts or even tracks and you'll really speed up the development process.
-feature ideas are always welcome
-if you can help out with actual development/modeling or whatnot, that's also very much welcome of course.

When you provide me with any of these, you'll have my gratitude and get your name in the credits :)
Contact me if you're interested.

Physics: It would be cool if you could drift without the change of physics. So if you initiate a drift you can hold with a little effort. My .02 cents. Oh and a Supra.

There is a supra in the list
And yes, if there will be a drift mode, it will be done with the same physics.

sounds very nice.

I don't know if you plan on recording sounds yourself?

I might have a nice project you can view/hear once it's finished.
Will update my topic again I think... a lot has changed since the last time.

I will have access to a few models (GT's providing sounds for the R34) but otherwise I'm not too sure yet.
I'm interested in this project of yours, what is it about? :o

Progress on the game has been very slow lately, been pretty busy unfortunately.Still working on it though, it's not dead :)

Well slowly is better then a complete standstill/dead game.

I updated my car topic you can read what its about all there.

Small update.
Unfortunately there is still no real game to speak of, I'm waiting for other people to release certain assets (such as physics), hopefully there will be some progress on that, still in 2012 :P

In the mean time though, I can show you a small customisation demo I've been working on in the last time.
It is still very limited, with only a few spoilers, hoods, front bumpers and exhausts (at time of writing), but I'm adding things over time. It's not much, but I figured I'd show you guys anyway.

Please be aware that it does not represent final quality, there are no textures and no real shaders to speak of.
Also, do not press the button at the bottom, it currently messes up stuff and you'll have to reload the page.

You'll need Unity webplayer to view this(when you don't have it, you'll be directed to an installer)
Click me!

You can use the left mouse button+drag to turn the car around, much like in NFSU2 and similar.

Since the last post, I've added a bunch of stuff.

There are currently;
-5 hood options
-5 spoiler options
-6 exhaust options
-3 front options
-2 rear options
-2 side options
-12 colour options

Also, I've massively improved the overal look with some textures and shaders (and a shiny floor :P )
Hopefully adding proper wheels this week.

Maybe GT will be nice enough to add another screenie hint hint :P

aaand done :P
It's not yet possible to change them, but I'll get to that.

I'll work on a new car soon enough. Not sure which it'll be yet though :P

EDIT: Ok, you can now change them, 3 types for now :)

Thanks Stig :)

I've added a new car; Alfa 155 Q4.
Sorry, no Supra/300zx/180sx yet :P Not to worry, they'll come. I already had some small progress on the Alfa before, so I just finished it.
The taillights still have no texture, I'll work on that later.
Also, the only customisation for it currently are rims, exhaust and paint colour (shared options). Probably will stay that way for now, I want to get some more cars in.

Aah a Q4... nice, don't see them in many racing games, only one I know is Forza 4.
Great addition.

What do you use as basis to start modelling?

How about calling it "WIP Racer" for now, as a codename at least?

Okay so I figured its been like 4 years since a new game has been added so I thought of a new game I think will be pretty good. Its as simple as this... One person posts a song title, the next person has to take one word from the title itself and come up with another song with that word in it. Heres an example:

Post 1: Here Without You-Three Doors Down
Post 2: You Found Me-The Frey
Post 3: Let Me Go-Three Doors Down

and so on and so forth, just figured we could mix it up a little bit. So Ill start first song is

Winner at a Losing Game-Rascal Flatts

hi!
