If you like Skyline - don't look here

Post by UrQuattro »

Saw this on TG today, I knew it was done, but didn't see it. haha, what fun - dedicated to the ricer boys who think Skyline is da sh*t.

pics taken in a sequence. Who says Hyundai's can't be fast?

Just adds more to the humilation that was suffered by a 996 911Turbo, which was defeated by this same Huyndai over a race track.

The Huyndai is set up for a gravel rally too - so it's not at it's peak.

Ive seen that

But I dont want to shatter the GTR image, as the R33 is one of my dream cars. So this is for all skyline fans, but bear in mind, the R34 is the slowest Skyline, with the R32 as the fastest.

Meh, throw enough money at anything and it'l go fast. It's not like Skylines are unbelievably speedy stock anyway.

Probably stock against rally huh?

Pff, they have to put a fully tuned Skyline next to it.

If the Accent blew it's engine, and the Skyline has to pull it.. Then you have to accelerate with full throttle. It will rip the chassis apart.

BTW, you mean it's Top Gear? Is it back at BBC? Cuz in the Netherlands, we can see ripped old episodes while we have BBC here.

That's another half-arsed comment from a ricer boy who has no idea what he's talking about.

Comparison tests like that are done using cars with similar performance. So instead of taking Evo and Impreza for instance, they took other cars that put around 300hp and have 4wd. Not a 600bhp tuned Skyline and put it against a Golf GTI.

And Like I said few months ago on these pages, the same Hyundai Accent WRC on a racing track took on the 996 Porsche 911 Turbo, and beaten it on acceleration, average track speed and track time. And stock Skyline GTr is not a slow car btw.

So before coming back with "put it against tuned skyline" and rip chasis apart mambo jumbo, get your facts straight.

@Stig - i thought the girl looked familar from TG!

It wasn't meant seriously.

The Accent is a damned stripped car, while the Skyline has some fat packages on it so it has more weight and still less power.

Accent has 300 bhp, and the Skyline 276. Accents torque: 427.8 ft lbs, Skyline's torque: 293.0 ft lbs. Accents weight: 1.230 kg. Skyline's weight: 1.540 kg

You can CLEARLY see the Skyline has a big disadvantage due to less power, less torque and more weight.

I thought it was TG - Top Gear, so never mind about that.

even if it has 250 HBP i think it would beat it...

they weight is the Dominant factor here...(everywhere)

especially on tracks and on rally races the weight is THE factor..

take a Westfield XTR(2( it can easely outrun a Ferrari or any other exotic car on the track with it's 1.3 engine! no turbo and no rotary engine
just a 1.3 engine from a Suzuki Hayabusa.. :P

why?? because it also weights 410 KG

compare that to a normal car.... :P

Ofcourse, and you don't need a more powerful engine if you know that you are fast enough with a light one. :)

And how did the Westfield drive Stig, haha.

The Radical SR3 Turbo uses the same Hayabusa engine and has the track record at Nuremburgring, either shows how light the car is or how good the Hayabusa's engine is

yep I know the radical was also tested by Top Gear but on the small winding track it was not as fast as the XTR but it has a bigger engine, it's also the busa engine but with a bit extra CC... (germans wan't it always a bit bigger)

That Skyline has to be stock.
A fully tuned R34 will not lose to a Hyundai

yo UrQ of course that looks bad man, ure taking like a highly modified hyundai against a modified skyline of same power. r34s are heavy man, and its an r34 as well, throw in a Godzilla R32 and then we're talking, it just comes down to how much money has been spent on each cars performance. hell u can take a barina and modify it to a point it destroys a murcielago. (ive seen a video of it happen). but yea like Grez said, R32 is the king of skylines. i never liked R34s, requires about over 1000hp to get under 10s in the quarter mile, and thats bs, r32 requires only about 700hp and u can get that easy from a Rb26det with a T88 turbo. massive amounts of power.

Skylines, use them on endurance races, they suck.
They are heavy as hell, though the RB26DETT is an interresting engine type the weight that the Skyline has makes it less interresting.

The Skyline is pretty front heavy too, so the racers that I have talked to all state the same.
After some time, the Skyline will start to understeer BADLY.
Understeering is when you turn the wheel, but it still feels like the car wants to get straight ahead.
And if you don't use the brakes enough, you will find yourself smashed into the wall.

Ive not once come across a Skyline driver who says his car understeers, and I was talking to about 15 of them at the last show, not to mention a friend has an R33 GTR.

Well, I heard it from a track racer.
Australlian, usually happens after some time...
A known Skyline page even says this, well there are others cars which is about the same too, the Evo's for an example.

Your Supra is more like the opposite.

Thats true

I think that they might mean that their computer is over effective at countering oversteer.

Checked it some more.
It eats front tires it seems, and when the front tires lose their grip, it starts to go under (Get understeering)
Well this can happen to any car, but it happens quicker on a Skyline than on another car like your Supra.
