ATi = Fail (IMO)

AGP = Fail (Fact...) :lol:

And to be honest, i wouldn't trust a $50 card... save up some and buy at least a decent $100 card. :P

Yeah... AGP... I had to go AGP 1 and a half years ago when PCI-E was the norm, because... it would mean replacing my Mo-Bo, CPU, RAM, and one of my HDDs or my DVD drive would have to be scrapped because I'm still on IDE. So $270 was all I could afford.

Now... it's like... PS3 at the end of the year... or new PC... I may get the PS3, because I have more than enough now (like out of spending money... not savings), but I've got school ATM. And this PC will really become useless around that time... I'll be playing some new-ish PC games that I can till run and haven't had the time to play, and playing N64 too. I'll probably find another job, and get more money, and then get a new PC anyway. And I gotta make a network too and get a screen...

Save up money and get a PC that's up to today's standards.

As it's AGP, your comp is likely to be old, abd your CPU may be a bottleneck by now. I could still max FEAR when I got my 7600GT, but for newer games it's worth getting a new PC.

Been searching/ saving for awhile and at the moment my main computer is f**ked but in the following weeks ill be either getting one of these graphic cards for it. Main reason for getting one is that Flight simulator X and crysis run on all low or even lag etc but that was with the crysis demo but still.
---------
XFX GeForce 9600GT 512mb DDR3 - $230 AU

Leadtek 9600GT 512 PCI-E2 - $205 AU

Nvidia NX8600GTS Diamond Plus - $199 AU

Nividia 8600GT 512mb - $109
-------
Thats how they were listed... so not my fault if listed incorrect or are basicly the same. :lol:

86GT- no
86GTS-maybe
9600GT- yes

I'm getting my MSI 96GT on friday, i'll post some review on it :)

EDIT: I got it one day early :D, was a bi**h to fit in, but I got it in there :D, So far, performance is great, blows through CoD4 and TimeShift (the games I currently have installed) but has a little quirk with GRID Demo, not sure if the game likes it lol, could be the drivers/card, or maybe it's just a demo, dunno, but the other games work lol. I'd suggest it as a card :)

Slight bluriness? Phone camera plus shaking makes the pic looks like something unholy gave birth to an octopus...

Not bad buy though Shaun, personally I would have liked the board to be a different colour than red so if you have a see-through case, you wouldn't need to explain to people it's not an ATi.

What would be better... SLI 9800GTX's or 9800GX2? I would prefer the 9800GX2 as its around $100 cheaper than two GTX's, and because I am going to buy a new computer possibly.

Depends on what you see as ''better''.. Performance wise, 2 9800GTXs are probably faster than a GX2, as the GX2 is pretty much a dual 8800GT. I don't consider the first to be a good buy though.

Wait till next month.

I would wait til next month to see what the new products from ATi and nvidia are like. Chances are the 4870 is gonna be faster and for around the same price as a 9800GTX.

Nice 6850, I was looking at one of those, liked that Quad better though... :lol:
(Overclocking rules) :P

Anyway, since my 76 is apparently slowing biting the dust, and it's summer so I've got nothing better to do but play on my computer, train for football, and work my tail off, figured I should finish my re-build. :P

I'm stuck on whether to get the same 8800GT (XFX 8800GT XXX Alpha-Dog Edition,) or to go with this BFG 9800GTX.
My 7600 is actually BFG, and I have to say I love them. Plus, when this finally bites it, I'll still be able to get it replaced for free. Although most companies now have Lifetime Warranties on GPU's, most of the one's I looked at back then didn't.

I also like the BFG because it has better SLI capabilities for the future, and it also has a black PCB board, to match my motherboard and (soon-to-be) new Antec 1200 case! \:D/

Which do y'all think? The 9800 is on sale, making it only $50 more than the 88, for alot more imo. But I trust y'all hardware opinions so I figured I'd ask. :P

--EDIT--
Oh BTW, I'm thinking about buying a 22" Widescreen LCD to play on, another reason why I like the 9800GTX better.
Plus, the 9800 is soooo sexy... :lol:

Woot! 7600! Mine is too... $270, max-high... 1 year later, med-low >_< Although RAM speed could screw things over too.

Same here... study without aircon... 40 deg days, cheap case, and trying to crank crysis as hard as it goes, maxing FEAR and oblivion on high.

Has anyone bought the new Radeon HD 4850? What cooler do you suggest to buy to replace the stock one?
