Showroom V2

There's less than a month untill release of Need for Speed Underground 2 and as I promised there's gonna be a new showroom that will be available to registered users only. That opens a lot of possibilities and I can already name one feature:

- Garage
Each user that uploads a car to our new showroom will have a special garage page where all his cars will be listed. You'll be able to add and remove cars on that page and other users will be allowed to comment these garages.

Since I'm not like game developers I actually listen to suggestion users give. And that's where you come in.

Here you can post your ideas on what features the new showroom should have. Post new ideas, tell me what's good, what needs to be changed...

And please explain your idea/suggestion thoroughly.

my only suggestion would be to add or remove cars cause i screwed up bad and i would want all my cars removed from my showroom and it seems like we're going to have it :P Also editing car would be nice to have

- max size 150kb (not 70kb like now) 800x600
- the pic can be taken everywhere, garage, street, showcase mode...
- light editing allowed, but nothing that changes the car look.
- No need to show your profile name.
- 1 entry per car and user. I mean each user can upload one skyline, one MX5 etc. Because now you can replace them when you want ;)
- Add a link of our garage near the avatar (forum) We could set it in profile options
- Dont allow users to vote as guests. Dont allow guests to vote as users :D
- General ranking as that in nfsu1 showroom.

Thats all for now. Probably some suggestions are stupid or just can't be done..

Accepted pictures will be anything from 800x600 to 1280x960, only rule is that it's in 4:3 ratio. Every uploaded picture will be resized to 800x600.

Since it's reg users only, there'll be no restrictions to where the pics are taken. The editing rule stays the same.

The one car per user rule is not a good idea, since people usually have a favourite car which they tune more.

The forum garage link is a good idea, but I can't promise anything there.

The don't allow guests vote as users and vice versa is impossible to do.

personal contests, that one user can challenge another for a battle. U'll get a special area in the site with al challenges as poll's.

Skyline_man that's something I should've thought of before, good suggestion.

jobo9 very interesting idea! I actually like it a lot.
I'll have to put it into phase 2 though -> start working on it after showroom is open.

Here's something that came up: have separate categories like "Hatchbacks", "Euro cars"... categories that certain cars come into.
I'd like your suggestions on categories here.

looks like we are on a roll...

as it is a personal (registered) garage is it possible that we personalize it??

in what way I don't know.... yet? (how deep etc)

Yes, it would be possible. What customization options do you have in mind exactly. All that I can remember is having own description for the garage.

This is the personal garage how it will most likely look like.

The image on the top is uploaded by the user of garage.

Perfect Bojan. Can users choose the pic at the top? (Where you put the blue Eclipse)
It is good that now showroom comments can be edited :)

As I said, the picture on the top is uploaded by the owner of garage.

About the comments. Editing is currently allowed to admins only.
It is a feature I've been thinking of implementing for a long time, just never made myself do it.

Wow,that garage idea is really nice!

But how bout some garage top lists,i mean, some kind of voting for whole garage(1 - 10)?And,only users can vote...

by Bojan
I had that idea but I've come up that's it's better not to rate garages. Cars in the showroom are always the same, but garages will change a lot. That means that the starting votes don't apply to the same garage later on.

Only solution would be to wipe the ratings every time the owner changes something. But I think that's unacceptable.

N-I-C-E Bojan, and u really should add that edit feature to the comments.

Yeah yo're right Bojan,i wasn't thinking obout that.

I was thinkin obout some users like to share setups of their cars so,so you could add setup link!it would look like this:

Acura RSX
delete this car.

user could add setup for the car if he wants.

Without knowing how the performance upgrades in NFSU 2 will work, maybe we should have a list of done parts? Some mixes may work better for drift cars so for those who wants to, we can list those.

This may sound a bit dumb but what if you wanted to post your best replay in with your garage. Or to prove your best speed in a drag?

Posted: 27 Oct 2004, 22:00
by Bojan
I can't really say anything about that since we don't even know the option to save replays will be available.
