Fastest Circuit Times NFSU2 demo!

Post by Tyrant »

Well, now we can all test our skills in the demo, and I just wanted to see how far you can push your 350Z. I haven't really pushed it. but this is a beginning..

I'm sure you can go much faster!

No proof, but I managed to do a 1.59.xx with a fastest lap in 59 second. It also could be a lot faster cause a I really kissed a car exiting the last corner and I lost about 3 to 5 seconds! :x

49.71 without wall banging. Made a live onboard video: n8d4971.wmv

With wall banging, I've read that some are getting 46's, but so far these seem to be console players, not PC players.

Sorry about the previous posts in the general discussion. Someone had asked me to post the videos there, didn't realize that it was an issue.

This one is from TerryNFS, digi-gamepad and automatic tranny + wallriding where its possible. I assume this is a console version, wondering if NFSU2 is faster on console versus PC.

I didn't do this one, it was TerryNFS, I'll have to ask. He used the railing method as described in the general section here, under "guide" to 49 second laps.

It's not the same version of the same on console and PC. PS2 has a Lancer; PC has the 350Z.

By the way, I didn't use NOS at all on my fastest lap. Using it all as you did, I could beat quite easily.

Goal : 49.50

As posted, a 45.89 was already done, by sliding on walls. I wanted to make a clean video, along with a descent time. I don't think sub 50 second laps without sliding on the rails will be quite easy for anyone.

wall hugging SUCKS.... that is SISSI driving IMO...

and it sucks that it works AGAIN in NFS U2... I hoped they would punish you for that...(massive slowdown etc...)

but looks like the embrace it with open arms... :?

Well blame EA for putting that into the game. As I posted in the general discusscions section, EA first did this in NFS5 (Porsche). NFS4 (High Stakes) penalized you with a very severe slow down for even the lightest scrape of a wall.

The video I posted was a clean run, but it's clear it's not competitive with the way things are now in the NFSU2 demo.

They could fix this by putting light poles, fire hydrants, parking meters, sign posts, etc on the edges of every track, stopping any car that hits one. They could also just use the wall physics idea from NFS4 where the walls stick like velcro to your car. Another idea would be to have those angled barriers that roll a car over if it hits it hard.

LOLLL
My first attempt was in 49.5x! After a couple of race, I did 47.97! Hard you said? No! And it's almost clean! Maybe I touched the wall once or twice, but I never surfed the wall! IMO, I could beat that 45sec times in no time using wall as this guy did.

I had one minor scrape in my last video, here's the latest, a clean (all clean section bonuses received) run at 49.52: n8d4952.wmv

I did have one 49.29 with a minor scrape, but I think progress will be slow for me know and don't expect to get into the mid 48's unless there's something I'm just doing wrong with my lines, or switching to auto tranny versus the manual I use now would help.

I sure hope that NFSU2 doesn't have the PC system sensitivity that NFSU did (with NFSU some PC's allow better lap times than others).

I also tried the other cars, but the yellow one seems to corner the best, so I'm sticking with it for now. I don't do much online play as there's no way to find a group of people that you know without planning on meeting in advance and using a passworded pit.

Work on your regularity before working on your speed. Once you can be for example, in 1.02 for 6 or 7 laps in a row, search for the speed.
Although, you can do it in "wrong way". ;) Work on your hotlapping skill, being very fast on one lap and after, try do reproduce this lap over and over again all race long. :) It's the way I learned to be fast and regular with Gran Turismo where I do competition at high level.

But, I saw that you planned to buy a wheel, no? For fun, go for it, but for performance driving, if you are not fast with either keyboard or gamepad, don't think to be fast with a wheel, or maybe a bit faster. It's a natural talent for some people.
