How to make a 3 color vinyl using Photoshop

Steps1 open a car template
Step2 make new layer & use the gradient tool, use the 3 colors (RGB)
Step3 make a 3rd layer make blocks of color for the front, rear & additional parts of the car
Step4 save this as a *.PSD “you may need to move bits around after testing with all the car parts”
Step5 remove car template, flatten image & save as a *.DDS & install

Or just download Chad's vinyl..

can you post a pic to see an example?

You can make even a 4 color car.3 colors from the vinyl and the base color of the car.

Sorry about that, I just remembered of some settings on this board and saw that attaching files for users was not permitted. It's been fixed now.

Mr. chad, i followed the instructions and made my first vinyl ever! i changed it a bit but it doesn't matter! i made some other vinyls too! all based in the 3colors by chad! i heve another problem. i made one for the celica and in the back of the car under the spoiler the vinyl is black!! why this happens? i hope you understand... and some other areas of the car appear black too.pls help me because i don't know anything from photoshop..

I'll try answering you...
can be 2 things:
1-check out the mask, if you have some uncovered zone where you have the body of your car (notice that the template isn't perfectly covering all the body)
2-with some cars, and with some body parts, you'll have problems like that, I don't know why this happens, but if you, for example, made a whole covering white vynil, you can still have some different parts, like the black part you see...I just noticed that in a couple of car I made vynils for

(so, ifit's not the 1 is the 2 I think)

i think viperjay with step one is rigth, i think its the car template thats being sceen.

i do remove the car template before i flatten it to a *.dds

but how do i set all colors ingame?
when i click on vinyl color, it only changes the back of my car.
anyone knows?

Just to check, are you installing over a vinyl that supports 3colours? “as in the readme in the download”

If you have tried this? Please post a pic of the problem. And we can see what to do.

i have got round the marks on the windows

the golf & 350z are a pain to get to work with all the car body parts.

@chad: can you help me guy, I'm trying to fix a black stripe appearing on the skyline's back (where there is "skyline" written, between the tail lights); you can see it only with 2 or 3 rear bumpers, but I hate it
I've made full covering body vynils but nothing changed with my work...
did you noticed it before?
