Re: Painting and Drawing Art Topic
Hey everyone, what do you say to another Drawing/ Painting competition?
I was just looking over the last one and how much of a success it turned out to be a feel we should make up a second one.

Re: Painting and Drawing Art Topic
Sounds like a good idea then, its just fun even if you don't win.
I have a WIP Acrylic Painting in progress of Brooklyn at night and im going to have a 5th Gen Prelude on the Left and 4th Gen Prelude on the Right of these 2 individual 300mm pre stretched canvases. I am going to mount them once finished slightly apart from each other.
Heres what I have so far:
What do you guys think?

Re: Painting and Drawing Art Topic
Looks very nice Tunerfreak. I’ve always managed to achieve poor results using a paintbrush… and it’s now something I choose to avoid. How far has the painting come since December?
I’m a boring sod… I’ve been faffling about all this time, drawing concept cars, few production cars, and BMW-based designs. They were all good fun, but not one has ended up the way I was aiming for. Largely because I couldn’t get the detail I wanted to add, onto the paper. See, I didn’t notice there was 'drawing paper', and 'drawing paper'. So after I got myself some ‘good’ paper (which I found after raiding 3 ART shops), I finally have the chance to happily create again.
The reason why I’m boring is because I’ve chosen to do the exact same car I did a year ago… only this time it’s in a slightly different angle, with some nice reflections . Yep, the Vanquish S. Mostly because I never get bored of drawing its shape, and I would like a copy to stick up in my room. My old school stole my last drawings, and I’ll never get them back
(A background will also be included).
I’m trying a new method this time, which is turning out quite well. I’m taking some advice from a user named under18carbon over at the GTP forums… who uses a ‘grid’ method to accurately model his cars. If you look through his work, such as the Murcielago and Enzo, it’s safe to say they turn out pretty amazing!

Re: Painting and Drawing Art Topic
Damn, I wish I had the patience and time to learn how to draw like that. Very impressive, man. Look forward to seeing the finished product.
And Tunerfreak, I'd really like to see how that acrylic painting of yours is coming!
And ImJ, that's no teg, it's a 4th gen Prelude.

Thanks! Though, I think if I had more patience, I'd be drawing on a daily basis. The only thing which really gets me through is my vision of the finished drawing, music, and lots of coffeeZero260 wrote:Damn, I wish I had the patience and time to learn how to draw like that. Alright... after the outline was sitting on my desk for a month, I finally found some time to start rendering the car.
This is the progress so far... I will go over the reflections again once I have finished (for editing/more contrast).
Yeah, so hopefully I will get the entire thing finished this weekend, background and all

Re: Painting and Drawing Art Topic
You do that just using a pencil?!
It's amazing...
It's amazing...
Re: Painting and Drawing Art Topic
You're using images as references, right? Still damn good, but if you did it completely from memory, that'd be just... astonishing.

Re: Painting and Drawing Art Topic
Always gotta find something wrong, don't you?
Re: Painting and Drawing Art Topic
I don't remember ever saying anything was wrong with it. Maybe you should read my reply, again. Even if I did, what's wrong with a little constructive criticism?
Re: Painting and Drawing Art Topic
If I drew this from the top of my head, that would be damn-right freaky. But like I said a few posts back, I'm trying a new grid method to accurately model the drawing... so a reference picture is needed.
Here's what I have so far. I'm about to make a start on the wheels… the part I greatly ph34red

Thanks. For this drawing I am using a couple of 2B pencils... though maybe something softer will be considered if I want the bottom-left of the car to look a bit darker.taz947 wrote:You do that just using a pencil?!

Yeah, I noticed the grid in the first pic. Good way to keep proportions right.

^ Thanks
Well, I'm now on a two-week holiday... so I've found some time to continue on with the drawing.
Just spent the day on the wheels, which turned out better then expected... though they still have a few little flaws.
I'm now making a start on the background... Should be interesting. A few car corrections, such as contrast will also be done.
