Hehe, yeah the car model is from MW. I'm no modeler, so I'm trying my hand at setting up render environments. I just need to add some more objects into the scene because there's a lack of reflection right now.

BTW, if you guys want something rendered in an environment similar to this, you can let me know.

I've never tried it myself, but you could probably just get the material to 'reflect' a texture such as buildings or something without actually having extra objects in the scene. Would certainly cut down on render time. But, like I said, I have no experience with that so you might try asking Ibi.

I think I know what you're talking about. It's called HDRI lighting. I've got quite a few HDRI files on my hard drive, but there aren't any I'm too particularly fond of. If someone can suggest a website I can get some from, I'd be very happy.

Could someone give me some tips on adding rims and tires to my model. Having somewhat of a difficult time figuring out how I would do it.

Here's what I have so far:

Too shiny?

Looks like a dream. Except the rear right part. Something seems to be up with the reflections on the spoiler at that part.

No, that's just the shape of the wing.

Do you mean that literally, or as like a compliment?

Ah, makes more sense now. The car looks like it's in dreamworld, covered in fog, lol. Look in my Carbon garage to see why I say that.

1,279,594, I guess. That's how many faces there are, anyway.

-EDIT-
I added some more geometry to the rims and brake calipers, and I really liked the result. The chamfered corners just make it look that much more realistic. :) It also pushed the number of faces up to 1,773,418.

Hmmm, looking good, but you really need some texturing on the tires. They look too flat.

Rotor reflect, it's just that the reflections are very blurred. The calipers should reflect a lot less than the rotors because they're usually made out of something similar to ceramic, and not the metal stuff the rotors are made out of.

Nag nag nag. :P Yeah, I'm still working on this, and I do appreciate the critique. And brake rotors are shiny, just not as much as chrome. I'm using default materials right now, I'm looking into using bump maps for the tires and brake rotors.

Depends. A few here use Google Sketchup to create their models and then import them in 3D Studio Max to render them. I use 3DS Max and VRay to create my render environments.

or Rhinocerous 3D (Rhino3D) and also v-ray for rhino, but there are many more 3D programs but like prince said, the most used is 3D Studio Max and Sketchup is free for use, very handy tool once u know how to work with it =) (which at this point, i still don't know much of it so i keep using Rhino3D hehe)

If you can export it into 3DS Max (ask xHaZxMaTx how to), I can render it for you.
