hey guys,
a few days ago i pre-ordered NFSU:2 because it comes out this thursday the 18th here in Australia. I would just like to know what version it will be. By that i mean is it the North American version or will be have our own Australian version because i sure hope its the North American version because i would really like the Civic and RSX instead of the Corsa or 106. So if any of u guys know could you please post an answer.

Also, I know Aussies love muscle cars (still can't fathom why) and yet I am an Aussie too. I however prefer to use brain rather than brawn to go fast and that includes corners. In my opinion the Corsa/Barina was a mistake as it is and always will be sh'te but the 106 on the other hand is a very good little car which can very easily smoke larger 'muscle cars'.

I agree Holden and Ford sell crap to everyone, but that doesn't give us a right to go bashing them for no reason. If you are gonna bash them at least say why!

And i beleive Toyota own the monopoly on the Australian car market. (Due mainly To their the domestically produced Landcruiser, Hilux and Camry/Avalon)

torque envy i beleive. Cylinders and Litres are the only Way of getting TRUE TORQUE the use of a turbo does not give True Torque, as it is only Available, in most cases within a certain rpm range (usually higher rpms) where its existence is of no use in everyday driving.

I like commodores (Standard) because

-Quality motors (202 with over 600 000 k's neone?, and the Buick V6 is eqaully tough, Series one VS V6's excluded)
-Generally Good Buid Qaulity (VN Excluded)
- Decent Power and Decent Torque From Stock Engines
-still suprisingly efficient

Dislike Falcons (Standard)

- Poor Build Quality (Plasticy flimsy feel of interior - AU good example)

There isnt much wrong with a falcon really, i just prefer holden, the Above does not take much too fix, and mechanical build quality is often better than holden

I dislike 'Riceburners' because of their NEED for forced induction to achieve any serious numbers on the dyno and down the strip.

Ever see any Seriosly tricked out imports that dont feature at least one turbo?

Although many muscle cars do have superchargers they are not required to achieve impressive figures.

While i dont have an issue with forced induction, i do beleive that if its not needed, dont use it. And i often use TTLS1 as an example of the superiority of the LS1, i use it mainly to show the quality of it, as opposed to 'wickedy turbo monaro WOW !!!!'

I have lived in the UK for 19 years and only one in Australia. But from what I have seen, Holden and Ford do have the monopoly over the car market. Toyota monopolise the 4x4 and industrial Ute markets. So I'm in agreement with you there.

But I have to disagree on the build quality of the Holdens and Fords. First I will say I am used to European build quality (and even then mainly on the good cars not the bad ones!!!), which to be frank is a lot higher than in Australia. I currently drive an EB Falcon GL Wagon which is crap, plus a Toyota Corolla ES which is just as crap. But the Falcon is a lot worse than the Toyota. The Falcon has serious issues with petrol consumption, and power which is highly amusing to me seeing as it has a 4l straight six under the bonnet. Even more amusing is the 1.6l Corolla is a lot quicker, has a higher top speed and handles better than the falcon. This doesn't say much for the Falcon!!!

AS for the Holdens, I have driven a few and I know a lot of people that have them and to be honest I only hear complaints about them (unless the V8's are on when they will stoically defend the monstrosity that got them to the pub!). Of teh tow companies though holden produce the better cars and I can't go into much detail other than my dislike for both companies copycat styling techniques.

Now to the Riceburners. I do believe there are a few NA riceburners about but I do agree nearly all have a blower on board of some kind whether supercharger or turbo. I am actually starting a project in January making a NA 300Bhp Peugeot 205. The car will keep the stock 1.6l engine but have many modifications to achieve the 300Bhp. If Turbo'd the engine would easily achieve 500Bhp. This even in NA form would decimate most muscle cars up to around 160mph due to its power to weight ratio.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see the results of that mod! Just an example of a small four cylider being used properly.

i haven't been paying much attention... so we aussies get a corsa and a 106? what cars did the other versions get....??

i don't like holdens... mainly for the fact that almost every single P Plater out there has bloody commodores and it annoys me... along with the 35" sub they supposedly have... which doesn't exist... and half commodore owners out there think that their 3.8ltr VN, VR or VS is a V8 supercar... which annoys the crap out of me...
i do like ford better... but i wouldn't get a ford.. because i want an Import or a Mercedes Benz... like the rest of my family...

well, i'v always liked holdens. I probably end up going to the Holden V Ford show this weekend.

If so i wonder if there will be any mods made that will convert it to the North American version.

I'm in New Zealand and I have the American version with the Civic and RSX. I'm pretty sure aussie will get the same. I've never even heard of a corsa.

Its not out in New Zealand yet ......and doesn't come out till the 18th/Thursday. so how did you get it I live in NZ too and ive checked everywhere, it dont come out till Thursday

Well, well, the good ole debate rages on. Personally, I am a holden fan, and I attribute this completely to Brocky being a legend during my formative years. I grew up in a Ford household, my dad has driven Fords all his life. IMHO there is really not much to seperate Fords and Holdens, I mean putting it in very simple terms, they are both (the falcon and commodore) family sedans and wagons. A totally different type of car from tuned import cars. The have different styling obviously, but generally, they are similar. I guess I love any car the looks good and goes quick. I'd love to own a sports car (currently driving a VT Commodore with fake HSV kit etc, etc) of some description , there are plenty that have sweet styling and nice performance. Sadly though, being 6'4" I tend to be restricted to bigger cars with more legroom. So to those shorties out there, count yourself lucky that you have a wider choice of rides. And as for the Holden vs Ford debate, it's a great rivalry, and it's great to see Ford doing well on the track atm, keeps things interesting. I dunno about anyone else, but I was getting bored watching HRT win everything, even if I did love it. It's nice to see the GTO in U2, even if it does look like a Bimmer. I hope someone will make a skin of our local monaro.

Anyway, just my 2 cents worth...

There has been an Austrtalia wide delay due to the ratings people not doing their job. Hence it is now delayed till friday.

I have it on backorder and am rather pissed when I went to pick it up today that it wasn't there. Basically the AU Ratings dept need to pull their sticky fingers out!!!

Onto the Ford-Holden thing.
I wouldn't have a problem with either company if they actually tried to make good cars and not cheap cars. I like when smaller companies such and PSA take on and beat the big boys (ie Ford and GM) at their own game! Also the only thing they did was spend money wisely and make GOOD cars. Also another thing thats annoying, is that take the shell off a BA Falcon and you can stick the VX/VZ commodore shell straight on, and vice versa. THey are carbon copies with no style. Anyway rant over.

The 18th???? bugger i thought it was comming out today lol. Oh well, Where are you guys going to buy your copies from Im getting mine from Probably Target or kmart or sumthing, but EB do this thing were if you give them 3 games then you can get NFSU2 for like $10. But i dont have 3 games lol.

I'm pretty sure that Australia and Pacific Islands will get the Asia Pacific version of the game... Here in South Africa we got that version in PAL and I'm sure you guys will too... by the way... hard luck against the French, but at least you didn't get thrashed by the Irish!!!!

Hey ants did you get it on console or pc? I sent mum to the city to get me underground 2 on console before i went to school lol. I was so happy but.....when i got home she said that it comes out on the 22nd (my bday lol) every one told me it was out 2day.
