ARCADE or SIMULATION?

What do you want in the next need for speed game? (nfs9)

I choose simulator cause I really like realistic things. I think it is a very important thing in a game nowadays to get a realistic gameplay, as well graphics and sounds are turning more and more reallistic...

Besides Im tired of driving in phantasy worlds. Better not to talk about weird body kits made in nfsu1/2 (specially nfsu2). My suggestion: Real life inspiration. real life physics, normal cars, normal tracks etc.

When ppl grow up they really ask for simulators. A simulator is not always more difficult than an arcade, but you need to get certain skills, which are the same you need when driving in real life. The arcade also requires to improve some abilities, but using weird techniques as wallriding, etc.

Developers think that young ppl won't like simulators, but I really think they would do. Simulator doesnt mean boring!!

When Gran Turismo came out for Playstation, I was hooked and haven't stopped playing racing sims since ...

Not that GT is an all-out simulator; it is more forgiving than real life, but not anywhere near the extent of which NFSU is ... There are a few corners in the GT games where wall riding improves times, too ... Again, not anywhere near the extent of NFSU ...

I would also really like to see Simulator in the next game. .. .

Wallriding is also used in real life, but you literally destroy your car. If there were damage and need to pay for fix that then ok, but.....

Simulation games are too difficult for young kids. They want everything easy. They don't go adjusting camber, ride height etc. Just drive and go.

Or get yourself a PS2+Driving Force Pro+ GT Prologue/4.

Yeah you should be able to choose the setting, depending on whether or not you like realism.

You could even have a setting for in-between, for soft-core tuners.

Definitely simulator. I'm tired of these "consolized" street racing games...

Depends what kind of game the next nfs is gonna be...
I'd definetly want arcade type racing in an Underground game. As for exotics on country roads, another NFS Porsche type half-sim game would be nice.

simulation all the way!!!!
...although the need for speed serie is perfect for arcade...

you get weirder every day....

what in the name is wrong with choosing??

if you want SIM you can be happy!

if you want to drive like a IDIOT against all wall you can be happy!

There can be very good arcade games too!
Take the wallriding out of nfsu2 for example and just think of the extreme speed. You can't have that in a sim game... At least not in the narrow roads in a city.

Not all the same, I don't want the crashing bugs ;)

A setting would be nice, as for MP would probably be a bit harder, I just wish they had added damage.

I don't want NFS to become a FULL sim... but like NFS PU would be cool.... more sliding... visual and performance damage.... that would be nice.... a bit in the middle

Ugh..I hate arcade type racers..They are so boring every car perform close to the same speed...Imagine a darg race with an arcade racer...Hah funny, anyway they should make the next need for speed a simulation

a)
b) I cant choose arcade in nfsu1/nfsu2.. tell me a game in which you can choose arcade/sim
That IS weird... it would be like designing a game twice, too much time and effort I suppose. IMO the time taken for design the arcade part would mean a worse simulation part.
i.e. if you have to do 2exams the same day, the results will be worse in each one than if you only have to do one of them.

but hey, I may be wrong ;)

I mean for games like NFS,

I don't wan't to see it as a FULL SIM... or a FULL arcade like it is now. but things like SISI mode (damage off, cars physics... so they drive like a train on tracks!) and a "SIM" mode where damage is ON and the cars are more likely to spin out of control and you can't do useless High speeds --> crash ---> damage ---> performance down! so no more wallriding! so not fully sim but a bit in the middle!
and make racing classes! so we don't race them all together... but back to the good old days of NFS 3/4 where you get classes like AA A B and C....

for full sim we can always use other games...
