Rice is in reference to the usually asian cars that run hi octane fuel, not unline the american cars that ran on "shine", the asian cars are said to run on the Japanese version of "shine".... saki a Japanese liquor made from fermented rice.

Okay.

Rice mobile.

Car with no engine mods, fitted with bodykits etc. Nothing wrong with bodykits, just don't spoil it..

There really is nothing wrong with rice, but people tend to OVERRICE it.

Veilside decal anyone?

A state of mind, someone who thinks their car is much faster than it actually is, or that certain parts will enhance performance even though they wont, or by the amount they say it will.

Domestics can be rice too. ;)

as a matter of fact, its better to have a seemingly sleeper car but with maxxed horses under the hood... rather than a shuttle-like car with stock engine...

Rice to me is like this:

Take a Stock Lancer, get an evo bodykit, get an exhaust system thats basically just a muffler (not from cats etc), paint it lime green, get greddy, stillen, nos, etc decals on the doors, neons underneath, and change the Interior.

This car to a lot of people will *look* good, but for a person who knows about cars the sound of the engine alone will show that its stock and has no balls.

basically, buying a shiznit/average car and makin it out to be a (edited) sick car to impress chicks/kids etc.

ps. its a good idea if it pulls chicks, but u'll regret it when u pop the hood and then get beaten to a pulp.

Tone it down a little eh? -GT

OK, everybody has posted an overall idea of ricing. Now I add an image :D
My own opinion of what ricing and racing are:

Image

Which group do you prefer to belong to? 8)

Remember that a crappy performance could even turn a car into a dangerous machine!

Visuals: It depends on one's tastes... You can't say that rice cars are always ugly! Some of them could look ugly FOR YOU and for me, but not for others!
The same with racer cars, which can be ugly!!
But it happens that racer cars are made with serious body kits and parts which make them look good. Ricer cars are made with cheap and home-made kits that.... LOL

Respect: Ricers and racers should be respected. Not everybody has got enough amount of money/ car knowledges to make a good car. But ricers who make their cars worse than stock ones deserves a big 'LOL@them'....

Nothing left to say I think...

*The money numbers could be not-accurate. It depends on cars, countries and many other things. It shows an overall idea though... Ricing is way cheaper

The main reason ricing is way cheaper is because you aren't going to start on engine mods. But still.. Money isn't really a factor. I could make a ricemobile far more expensive then a performance car.

I do hate those people that are going to cry when they see a a car that ''seems'' to be a ricer. What's wrong with a bodykit and spoiler? If I put those on my car, maybe I just put them there for show. Maybe I don't have intentions of going fast.

I don't like those performance wannabees though.. Especially those guys in a CRX.. Revving their engines and acting tough because they have a VTEC. Hell, those idiots probably don't even know what VTEC is.

I'd just say that a ricer is someone that wants to make his car look so damned fast while it isn't.

yeah and putting a HUGE VTEC sticker on a first gen CRX..

but alot of people who got "style" Mods like a kit and spoiler on their CRX and Astra's are doing that to look fast... when they are not... or like "tuning" a Volkswagen Polo SDI diesel with 50 bhp and fitting it with a huge bodykit and bucketseats and all kind of "Race" stuff... and boosting the power of their track racer with a cone airfilter and a huge Remus exhaust tip wich will rocket their Diesel to 100 Km/h in 12.5 seconds

that is stuff I see here every day... and IMO that is pure ricing... even if they claim otherwise

Well, at my High school, people roll in on the shiny body modded celicas. They think theyre something hot because they have a job and spend all theyre money at streetracer.com or whatnot. Every morning i see these cars and it makes me laugh... Not to mention you hear these things to. They top their ricers off with those Mufflers that either make your car 'fart' or 'ring' and its so annoying.

As Spike always said "Suddenly everyones an expert" promotiing their show, CSI. It seems to be happinging in these people that dont know jack about cars, yet they act like, "Oh man, that guy like got only 80 mph with nitrous, omg, i couldve doen better..." They played so much of these Arcade "GAMES" that they forget that your not going to go 210 in your honda going to the Quicki Mart. so thats my 20 Cents, Pce.

rice....*sigh*

i dunno is it this categorized as a rice car, thanks to the Fast and furious series, poor young drivers get infected of decals fever, they tends to stick thier car with decals (i didn't know that little advertisment sticker is called decals until i played NFSU series)

i my opinion you will only put decals on your car when the manufacturer did sponsor you with the parts or cash in racing events, this is to tell the world that what you manufacturer's parts you are running with or who the sponsor is. This is another way of advertising and business i guess.

and those young man do it for free. worse of all, its a stock car full of decals, some even stick the name, nationality flag and blood type of the driver, WRC ? or is it really meant for the hospital personel to know what blood type are yours when you are in deep trouble during traffic accident.

this is the power of Fast and furious !!

I saw NOS (brand...not nitrous) stickers on sale in Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart! The nearest nitrous bottle to Wal-Mart is in the hospital. They are promoting ricing. They must be stopped.
