# of Challenge Slots

OK 12hours ago it was announced the HotHatch Challenge (for the next week) and... all the slots are filled now!!!
It seems that more slots are needed. Please vote for the # of slots you want in future challenges.
Notice that too many slots means that you will have to rate too many cars!!! (missing votes count as a 10!!!) and remember that there were about 100 entries in the PinkChallenge.
Thanks for your votes

Why don't you give an option to choose 50 slots? Some people may want to stick with it
More than 100 is a bit insane to rate them all imo

I go with 100 (as I said on the chat).
Less than 100 isn't enough when you consider how big this site has become, and over 100 is a bit too much to vote for some people...

I think 100 slots are enough

finally someone else agrees with me. any more slots would be better, than what we got now. as long as i can get my car in i dont care if i have to vote 150 cars, did it with the ug1 challenges.

I agree with SunnyGTIR, after all you have one week to vote...don't have to do it all at once.
Still, I think 100 is enough. You have one week to build the car (upcoming) which is quite enough, but you have to be fairly quick to upload it when the challenge opens.

As long as it is higher as 80, I'm happy.

if its higher than 80 slots is just too high. 80 slots would be perfect.

80 imo

2 people allready voted for 500 slots.
That's too much to vote

more cars isn't bad but I think if we do that that there must be a bigger motivation to vote all cars cause in the pink challenge more than half of the people didn't even bother to vote wich IMO is a bad thing!
cause the rule of a 10 for each car you missed is in this case not enough...
IMO loss of points would be a better IDEA!
the voting percentage in the replica looks alot better already! cause alot of entrants are voting...

i will go 100, but how about this, slot reserving... challenges are anounced in advance and people can reserve their slot, if the reserved slot is not filled by the 2nd day of the challenge then they are removed and open for anyone... just a thought

Butcher, might work...but my guess, all slots will be reserved so no change in situation. But keeping a challenge upcoming for a couple of days (or more) would give more time to prepare.

I have several thoughts on this:
Firstly, one thing I really liked about the challenges in UG1, was that when one challenge started, the next one was announced and I knew that I had one week to create the car, so I could play with ideas, and really make the best car I could (ok, don't go looking back through my UG1 entries LOL) but you know what I mean. Now, you *have* to be on the site as soon as possible after the competition is announced, go off, build your car as quickly as possible, and get it in before the competition fills up. For this reason, I think there should be a limit of between 150 - 200 slots and see how that goes.
With having to vote for that many cars, it doesn't really take that long, especially if, as many people mentioned, you spread it out over the week. I really think it would be good if the voting was like for the tuning challenge in UG1 - after you voted on one car you got a next button which would take you to a random car you hadn't voted on - and you could come back later. Currently the cars are listed randomly, but if you come back you have no way of knowing which ones you have already voted on.
I do also think it would be good to have the new challenges announced several days before you are able to enter them, this would ensure that people at least had a bit of time to work on cars, knowing that they didn't have to rush too much.
Especially, I think that most of us would rather spend an extra half an hour voting on extra entries, than rushing to build a car only to miss out on entering at all.
I am so much less interested in the hot hatch comp because I missed out on entering
That's just my thoughts on the matter anyway.

OgO

funny that you mention it. but the system of start and entering of challenges is exactly the same (ok today's signup is later (cause of my personal time problem!)
but you have to know that there are almost 3 times (or even more) members on the site and the showroom activity is alot higher...
but even in the replica challenge (50 cars) not everybody votes who competed... not that we expect a 100%
but it a fact that in the larger challenges alot of people don't care about voting and especially don't want to vote 200 cars...
and alot people who enter the bigger challenges are not as devoted as the people in smaller challenges so often don't even bother voting on other cars!
IMO the only way to get em voting (want the have a 80 to 90+ % of entrant voting)
is to lower their votes when not voting... cause it is clear that they don't care about giving others a 10...

Ok, I have two ideas here then:
I think that it's important to have as many people vote as possible, not just entrants - often cars only get 30-40 votes total of entrants, members and guests, so maybe you could have something where say for every time a member (entrant or not) casts votes for every car in a competition, they get an extra showroom slot AND every time they do not, they LOSE a showroom slot. That would encourage voting by members, who are often the more active people on the site, and by non-entrants who like the showroom feature.
My other idea, if people want smaller competitions - run the competitions exactly like now, though maybe increase the number of slots a little, to say 75-100, run the competitions in pairs (instead of having one comp running and one upcoming, have TWO running and two upcoming, BUT you can only enter one of the upcoming comps. That way people will enter comps they really want to, they won't have to vote on 500+ cars to have voted everyone in the comp, and for those who like voting, there are two comps to vote on.
I also think you really should drag out that old code to let people vote on cars randomly and come back later and just keep clicking on that next button to go to a new car they haven't voted on.

Yup. Some sort of "next unvoted" button would be nice. You can see which ones you have voted, but when you're almost done it takes some annoying scrolling to find the few remaining ones.

yes, it really takes time before you find a car you didn't vote

In the classic challenge, on the page where you can see all the contestants, you can see the points you gave on each car, so if you forgot to vote on some cars you'll see it.
You'll read this
" Your vote on this car: xx"

That's true - you do see the score you gave each car in the main list, but it can still be a hassle to find cars you haven't voted on if there are just a few -it would be good if you could also see up the top - "you have voted on n out of x cars in this competition"
Actually one other suggestion - you can see the score you gave each car in the competition list, it would be good to see the score you gave a car when you look at that specific car's page.
