I recently bought a copper cooling kit for my Radeon 9200 card.... while trying to install it, i found out that the old heatsink that was on the card just wont come off!! it's stuck onto the chipset with some adhesive (or is it thermal paste) or something like that. anyone know how to get it off?

Well, I have a Radeon 9000pro, and I replaced the stock cooler, by slightly pushing the plastic pins from above with the screwdriver, and then I just had to carefully remove the cooler from the gfx cpu by simply picking it up. I can't really help you because I never seen 9200 detailed.

just take something thin, stick it between cooler and GPU and try to lift it up VERY carefuly ;)

I have a 9200 as well and its a bugger to remove the heatsink. I tried it for an hour or two but then gave up as I didnt want to cause accidental damage to my card. No, there is no "glue" thingy holding it down, there are a couple of pins (2 or so) that seal it from the bottom. You have to use something like tweezers or so to squeeze the bottom end and push it out at the same time. I cant explain it two you properly with just words so I suggest looking around the web for something with pictures.

And btw "thermel paste" is a special chemical that helps the heating pass through the chip to the heatsink. You have to apply it VERY carefully so that its all even otherwise your heatsink will be useless!!

That's what I told you too. Try using a pin to push them up from the bottom. It worked for my 9000
