They're not ingame, but rendered on the same hardware the company thinks the PS3 will have (which says very little since you can render on anything).

THOSE PICTURES are PC pictures.
PS3 will NOT look like that.
2 Days to Vegas is a PC-ONLY game.
http://news.spong.com/detail/news.asp?prid=8637
Gaming sites were only jumping around saying the game will be out for Xbox 360 and PS3 but it's NOT.
Consoles with that kind of graphics? HA!!!! Maybe when Half-Life 10 comes out. Keep dreaming boys.

If it is for the PC than it won't look like that.Current hardware can't produce images like that. They may say that the game will look like that on PC but it won't.It can't.That looks ten times better than Doom 3 and that game pushes the current hardware to its limits.
On the Next-Gen consoles it could look like that.I will explain why if it's neccesary.Just look at games like Gran Turismo 4, Metal Gear Solid 3 etc. They all run on a 250Mhz machine with a 32MB videocard.Imagine what they will do with 8 4,4Ghz cores and a videocard that is one generation ahead of the current top cards like the GeForce 6800.The games will be out of this world.

You actually believe what Sony or Microsoft say about their consoles?
You actually don't think that a PC with a 3.8 Ghz HT processor, 1 gig of memory and nVidia 6800 Sli won't be able to run that?
Aye, I pitty you.
A console CANNOT be better than a computer. The designers use computers to make and test the games. If you have seen the high resolution pictures of Gran Turismo 4, well guess what, they were taken using a computer. I've seen ingame videos of GT4 and while the graphics are magnificent, the resolution is still low.
My final points?
1. A console cannot be better than a computer.
2. By the time consoles will be able to render those kinds of graphics, Doom 6 would have come out with near-life graphics.

True BUT there are a lot more great games on PC than great games on consoles.

You are Mistaken. Why? Half Life 2 isnt on Console.. BF2 wont be either.. are you begining to notice how many games are being ported to the lowend Consoles from the Holy PC? Call of duty was one... it was such a major hit, they moved it to the "Selling" population.... Consoles... And the same thing happend to Doom 3. Of course the Resolution was crap and so was the geometry, but little children cant tell the difference.
I 'lmao'ed wen ppl said Halo 2 was better than Half Life 2... See, its 13 yr old fools that have no life and play a 200 dollar piece of junk, 4 or 5 yrs old, and never played any pc game other than Pinball, that say this stuff... Im not surprised because even though Xbox 2 and PS3 will have better gfx, it will only be short lived. By next year, Valve will have already conquered the gfx part with its new gfx engine thats suppose to ship with after math. Its the Filters and bumpmapping and super high res textures that make PC games great... For the consoles all they will have are these things... Low Res Texture(if any at all) Low Resolution (unless supported by 1280x720 widescreen) Nothing special besides bumpmapping and shaders (this shook the console world because Xboxers have never seen gfx like this, unfortunately, PCers have). Are you begining to see what im getting at?
Summary - Next Gen Consoles will only have the upper hand for about a year. After that, we, the PC people who didnt waste 500 bucks on a Xbox 2(im thinking that price is about right) will being spending that money on a good 200 dollar GPU, a 100 CPU, some Ram and Half Life 3 and Doom 4.... Have fun with your Consoles while it lasts...

The statement is true for the current generation of consoles. What do you expect from 250Mhz.Just compare. You need a 3Ghz CPU + a GeForce 6800 to play Half Life 2 in it's full glory. What do you need to run GT4?256Mhz.It's quite a difference isn't it?
And i don't have to take Sony's word for it.They have already presented the Cell chip and it's specs at ICCSSS 2005.I will post the specs soon. You simply won't belive how bad the current CPU's look compared to Cell. And i can say this with no doubt at all.The PC will get a major whoopin when the PS3 arrives.Mark my words on that.
I have a major in CPU architecture and i know how stuff works.

I got a ATI Radeon 9500 Pro 128mb, 512 RAM, and a AMD XP 1.7 ghz processor and im running HL2 on 1280 x 720 on all maxed setting including AA and AF, yea, exactly, so shut up if you dont know what your talking about...
Nasadus wrote:What do you expect from 250Mhz.
"Graphics Processor: 250MHz custom chip named XGPU, developed by Microsoft and nVIDIA"
Uhh, buddy, i think youre talking about the GPU and the mhz is a complete different story. Its a specially made system that works to full power all together. You cant compare the hardware of the Xbox to a PC. PC games are made to be able to work and run with smooth framerates on msot systems while Xbox has only one system so they have it easy, they can pack the most power they can into one working system... So once again 'Mr.Adegreedontmeanshet' , shut up.
Im not trying to start stuff, but stupidy killed the cat.... i think..

That's exactly what i mean.PC games have to work on many many different hardware configurations and thus the developers can never optimize the games for one type of hardware. The console developers can and that's why they get such great looking games.Wich also brings me back to my previous point. When the developers start creating and optimizing games for a 4Ghz proccesor and let's say a GeForce 6800+,they will get incredible looking games.
Check out this link wich demonstrates the incredible power of the Cell processor.
http://techon.nikkeibp.co.jp/english/NE ... ST=english
A snippet from the article above:
"Toshiba demonstrated that its Cell microprocessor, jointly developed with the Sony Group and IBM Corp., can simultaneously decode 48 SDTV format MPEG-2 streams. At the COOL Chips VIII event held in Yokohama from April 20 to 22, 2005, the company showed a film demonstrating the decoding process.
In the film, 48 MPEG-2 streams stored on a HDD were read, decoded and projected onto a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution display divided into 8 x 6 cells, each of which showed a different video in each cell."
You may not realize it but that's astonishing.A Pentium 4 EE (3.4Ghz) can't even do 5 of those.
Oh,and since nVidia haven't yet unveiled their next-gen GPU wich is beign developed for the PS3 i'll just post the link to the known specs of the Cell chip.
