Drag Gauges always

I would like to get the drag gauges in all the race modes. At least we should have the option to choose.
What do you think?

I love the drag gauges, the sense of speed is bigger, and you can shift up more easily at the exact moment 8)

Gooo away.

There is no exact shifting point in the other modes. :9

NO, I'm happy with the normal gauge-style. Just a few circles with numbers will do :D

It'd be OK as an option for people like ^Sparco^ who like it. ;)
IMO, we'd be better off as it is.

I voted NO! :x, but I agree there should be some sort of option.

I'm the only person so far to have voted What?

I guess I should have voted "no", but I like to be different :P

I'm perfectly happy with the gauges (however it's spelt - can someone please add a spell-checker to this site  ) as they are in NFSU2 - I hardly ever look at them anyway (as I'm a lazy whatsit and use auto boxes - too many keys if you change gear manually on a PC). As long as I know when I'm doing over the double-ton, I'm happy. :D

What the heck for?! There are no "hot" shift points in other game modes, so it would only be there for looks... Ok, I might look "cool" to some, but not to me.

And, Darren, too many keys to use manual gearbox? You serious? All though I nowadays use wheel+pedals, not so long ago I was a keyboard slave (in driving games) aswell. What I used was right hand for steering and throttle/brake (the arrow keys) and left for shifts+nos+ebrake (usually A shift up, Z shift down, SPACE Nos, LEFT SHIFT e-brake) which is imo no where near too much.

Ever play flight sims or mech games?....Those easily had every single key mapped for some function and then some (with shift/alt/ctrl combinations...)

@ Vellu:

My favourite key combo is Q-Accelerate, A-Brake (Not Used Much  ), I or O - Left (depending if the P key is used for Pause or not), and O or P for Right, Space-HandBrake and N-Nutter Juice (NOS). Gear change is normally W-Up and S-Down.

I find it very difficult to use the Arrow Keys, but I know why this is. I started gaming in the Sinclair ZX Spectrum days (it was the first affordable home PC in the UK, and I were just a very young boy and it had a fantastic memory complement of 48K and used cassette tapes to load games! Amazingly, I'm still playing my favourite Spectrum game on this P4 3.2GHz 1GB Memory Dell PC with a Radeon 9800 Pro video card using Spectaculator Spectrum Emulator - CRL's Formula 1, a Formula 1 Grand Prix management game. I have hacked it since to include all the modern drivers, teams and tracks, using the built in MultiFace Emulator in Spectaculator! And Jenson Button is my number 1 driver, driving for Williams and is leading the World Championship, having won every race of the season so far. If only it was the same in real life, England would have something else to celebrate, apart from the Cricket (which will also probably change now the Aussies have arrived for the Ashes!))

Anyway, the point of the above reminiscences is that the Spectrum had no proper arrow keys, and the above key combo was the most used in driving games of the day.

fine as an option but not compulsory

I guess it would be a nice option but its not really needed in an arcade racer.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo!

Thinking if you can shift with these light in al modes it's almost impossible to shift very badly(I mean for race maniacs). It would be cool but only in the drag mode

Yes!

Dabeastyboy agree with you!

Actually if I could recall, in NFSU1, if you're driving manual, you should notice that there'll be a right light lighting up when you're suppose to shift to the next gear. This would be enough for me instead of having the drag gauges everywhere. :)
