More like a Grand Tourer.
It doesn't have that thing that made the original AE86 so popular.

Don't worry about what the render looks like. I have seen at least five different renders for the new Supra, I bet none of them are accurate.

And for the last time, it certainly won't be called an AE86

The V10 version of the R8 is surely the most anticipated.
I can't wait to see a Top Gear review of it compared to the 911 GT2.

I've seen pictures of it, and it unfortunately it doesn't look as good as the original...

Somehow it looks more calm, not a deranged beast in a tuxedo that it should be. They got rid of the quad exhausts, and smoothed out some lines. I reckon there are quite a few people drooling over the new Lamborghini and Aston Martin (One-77). IMO Lamborghini shouldn't being doing a 4-door, it seems like their slightly losing the plot.

They're also putting the twin turbocharged, 572bhp 5.0 V10 from the RS6 into the R8, so expect that one to look a bit more vicious.

Expect a new 'Ring record from that.

I think Lamborghini's not the only one losing the plot...how can you say the R8 "doesn't look as good as the original" and "it looks more calm" when it looks pretty much the bloody same as the original? It's not Lamborghini who's losing the plot though by making a four-door, it's Porsche. Panamera = :-& . The Estoque at least looks half decent.

They say that the engine is going to be detuned because if it will produce 572bhp the R8 will kill the LP560-4.
That's why they decided to reduce its power.

Kinda like Clarkson's review of the 8C Competizione:

"I'm surprised they didn't put more power in it. But then again, then it would be faster than a Ferrari, and in Italy that's a social no-no. It's like....vomiting on the Pope."

It's a shame that the R8 has limitations becuase it can't be faster than a Gallardo. Really, it should be that the Gallardo can't be any faster than a R8 because it's Audi that own Lamborghini...

No, it's pretty logical, even if Audi owns Lamborghini it doesn't mean a Audi should be faster.
Lamborghini is their prestige brand, it's their top end exotic brand, with the exotic price tag.
And if you think about it, Audi is a part of the VAG group, and guess what, Prosche is or is going to be basicly the owner of Volkswagen.

Porsche bought 51% of VAG.
So, Porsche would be the owner of Lamborghini. :P

Why not just stick with a naturally aspirited V10 then? Audi won't care about cutting off some of their Gallardo market because they make a far bigger profit per car on the R8 than then do on the Gallardo. Because it uses lots of existing technologies and almost 45% of its parts are shared with other models, it's comparatively cheap to manufacture and the Gallardo worked well as a test bed for it.

Even if Audi don't shoe-horn in the twin turbo V10, someone will. MTM have already released a supercharged version of the 4.2 R8- 550bhp and faster than the Gallardo Superlegerra.

Looking at some pictures of the face-lifted 911, I realized that I really like it.

Would you choose the Targa 4S over the Carrera S?

Ideally, I'd take a GT3 RS specced targa, with all wheel drive. Short of that, I'd take the 4S Targa.

Or an Audi R8.

Yeah, but considering the R8's ground clearance , the Targa 4S is the best one.

Yeah, but you can't raise the nose to get over speed-bumps, so the 911 wins.

The GT3RS is just as low- if not lower, especially the rear valance.

Catching exhausts on speed bumps or grinding the sump is much worse than grinding the nose, and the rear mounted engine in the 911 is more likely to do just that.

Yeah, but I was talking about the normal 911, the Targa 4S, not the GT3RS.

It wouldn't be too hard to achieve either. GT3 Aero kit is a factory option- just needs some GT3 wheels, interior and a GT3 motor transplant. Now where can I find a front-ended GT3 RS?

Yeah, but because the 997 Mark I is discontinued, you can't go for the Aero kit on the new Targa.
