Mum is shortly going to purchase a new car - most likely candidate is the Vauxhall Astra VXR (240 BHP)

I'm pleased to say that my Dad has sold the Volvo V70 after its 9 years with as, and has finally purchased a new black Commodore SS-V (Sorry Bogan :P ). We drove out into the Brisbane mountains a couple of weeks ago, and the 6.0 litre V8 was just supurb :P (Great handling around the tight bends as well :o ).

It's a shame I've only got a pissy little 4-cylinder engine in my car! :P

You don't want to get me started on this. Australian built cars are rubbish. And don't go calling me biased or something; I used to like Aussie cars too. When you're old enough to drive a Commodore for yourself, hopefully you'll be able to see my point of view.

btw I'm referring to the more recent models, like from 1980-onwards. The old classics are still cool

A Holden Kingswood perhaps? 1968 was when they were first released.

jacoja06 wrote:@Bogan: You don't even like FPV falcons? :o
Not really. They're quick, and look nice, but the general build quality (especially the interior) of all Falcons is poor.
I've only realised all of this recently, after being able to drive various newer cars.

However, my new-found dislike for Aussie cars isn't just about build quality. In my opinion, ALL new cars lack any feel or character. These days most cars are made to be quiet, comfy and safe. F*** that! I want to hear the engine and suspenison, I want to feel the bumps through the steering wheel, and I don't care about being able to see over the car in front of me in traffic.

Conclusion: New cars suck!

/end rant

I see what you mean... especially at Toyota where they now just make 'Sporty' cars instead of actual sports cars. They use to be great with sports cars, such as the Supra, Celica and MR2. Now they think we can pass with an Aurion or Camry.
