I think the X-Fi will be released with there new card series so that would be end this year or the beginning of next year.

I finally purchased an X-fi in the summer of '06. I have to say, it definately beats any other sound card on the market. Plus, the XtremeMusic is now only $80.

if you by and intel extreme mother board you don't need a sound card because it has one built in which is sweet

and I think you can by a Creative Sound Blaster card for about $30 but I'm not sure about that

It's on-board; not exactly Hi-Fi.

I think the Bluegears B-Enspirer would be my top pick. Primarily because of full x64 support in combination with full 5.1 independent surround channels and support for DTS streams.

Definitely the best card is the X-FI Xtreme Music. The Xtreme Audio sucks, while the other ones are just too expensive.

I have search on net and i got good sound card so describe here..
Audiophiles are interested in getting the best audio quality they can out of their components. 2 years why did this topic get revived after 2 years twice already? 2005 to 2007, and now 2008 to 2010?

since its resurrected already... what is a good cheap sound card just for gaming?

Any motherboard integrated audio circuit will do. Any "cheapo" add on card won't be any better than those. For a real quality improvement expect to spend somewhere around 75-100€. Creative X-Fi series cards start from about that price range.

If you're gonna buy a sound card, there's no point of buying a cheap one. You buy one for an improvement.

If you decide to go for improvement, you can go with the Auzentech Forte X-Fi or the Asus Xonar line. Both very good.

Or if you going to do more then just play video games or more you can go with the Sound blaster X-Fi titanium or Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D.
