if you are using PS2, (as your name shows) then you have to use the PS2 Codes... if you are using the PC version of NFSU2, then use>> this << cheat

all cheats should be put in at the main menu, no matter what platform you're playing on.
the cheat for the extra money in career mode will only work on a new profile.
