Your thoughts on Quake 4

I have just received Quake 4, installed it and I must say the single player is actually good. I haven't tried multiplayer yet. The graphics are almost exactly like Doom 3 but the Doom 3 scare factor is not there. The enemies do look gruesome and the corridors dark but the monsters don't jump from behind or anything like that. The game is fairly straight forward and you don't get too many options on where to go around. I set the detail level to High and suprisingly it is very smooth with minimal lag. I ran the game on a P4 3.0 Ghz (with HT), Nvidia Geforce FX5600 at 256 mb with 1 Gb RAM.
I'll provide more information as soon as I advance more through the game. If anyone wants more information or screens, don't hesitate to ask.

I haven't played it much yet, but it seems pretty lame so far. There's really nothing good about it, besides the graphics. And what made developers think that games that take place entirely in the dark are good, anyway? That only makes it more boring for me..

Well I'm more of quake guy than Doom guy, mainly because of the multiplayer aspect that Quake is known for.... I was excited about buying the game, but after a few moans and grumbles in the croud about the game I wasn't too sure... I think I will play the game eventually.....

l'll wait for Quake 4 Arena, cause Q3 Arena had the best playing 'feel', better then UT2004 or other usual multiplayer games

Are you sure? I mean I have both Doom 3 and Quake 4 and if I put Doom 3 on High Detail, it lags to the point where it get hard to aim and annoying but Quake 4 on High Detail is mostly smooth (little lag in wide open areas) and still playable.

Some what, but also the gore in the game if there is any. They don't want me getting "screwed up".
It's the same with DOOM 3.

A dangerous driver that is invulnerable to all damage and the ability to reset your car if you roll

I think I might be getting the game, but due to overwhelming financial ruins I in at the moment, i.e. the crap loadsa money I spent on my fantastical PC, and now I can't afford to buy games in order to test its capabilities.... don't you just love irony...

Maybe you should get it illegally and buy it when you have the money for it if you still want to buy it

seeing blood and gore does not make you more violent in real life, in fact, its better to achieve the violent satisfactions in video games then in real life

Actually it's true, in my case at least. Sometimes I feel very pissed off and unless I play a shooting game (UT04, Quake 4, Half-Life 2, etc.), I feel like beating someone at school. I'm serious, playing a violent shooting game - in my case - really "cools" me down. No, I'm not crazy but I guess that's the way I am.
