Showroom 3 Voting System

Post by Pinecone »

This is the official showroom 3 voting system directly from Bojan. Im posting this to see your reactions:
I'd like to clear this out before anyone starts complaining. I hope you'll explain this to others too when the showroom goes public:

Unlike in SR2 where giving a low vote would drop the rating, here even a low vote increases the reputation: just not as much. There is no way a car's reputation would go down, it just goes up. Right now by getting votes and comments:
* 50 rep points for each comment from a different person
* for voting the formula is: ln(vote * 10) * 5 - that means 12 points for 1 and and 23 points for 10.

Additionally when the new SRChallenge is joined, there will be fixed amounts awarded for winning those competitions.

There will be no vote checking and deleting. If someone gives your car a 1, be happy, you received 12 points!

The top3 lists in game home and category home will be the top cars according to reputation received in the last 24 hours!

Ranking:

The stars are determined like this:
0 stars: less than 0.5 of the average showroom reputation
0.5 star: less than 0.75 of the average showroom reputation
1 star: less than 1.0
1.5 star: less than 1.25
2 stars: less than 1.5
2.5 stars: less than 2
3 stars: less than 2.5
3.5 stars: less than 5
4 stars: less than 10
4.5 stars: less than 20
5 stars: more than 20times the average showroom reputation

Average showroom reputation is sum of all reputation divided by amount of cars.
The ratios may change later (depending on how the showroom will act)

This is somehow public knowledge so if you want to share it with others, go ahead

Notice that the basic/default/average reputation for your cars is 1 star

I'm pretty sure some of you will complain about having a low reputation:

Dude: OMG I only have 1 star out of 5!
Sparco: Chill out, your car is average.
Dude: How? I'm not stupid. 5/2 = 2.5. So 2.5 is the average, 1 is low
Sparco: Whatever... be happy

That was a good point sparco made. What he's trying to say is people were complaining that no one was commenting or voting on their cars in sr2, and now that the average rep is gonna be 1, people are going to wine that no one is commenting or voting their ride.

But, whatever you do, there's always going to be people that wine. I'm sure this voting system will work just fine. I can't wait!

Well yeah. But I didnt mean that.
0 stars: less than 0.5 of the average showroom reputation
0.5 star: less than 0.75 of the average showroom reputation
1 star: less than 1.0
1.5 star: less than 1.25
If there are 1,000 cars and the total points are 800,000, then the average points of the cars is 800. This is a relevant number, because:

0.0 stars: less than 400points
0.5 stars: 400-600points
1.0 stars: 600-800points
1.5stars: 800-100points
2.0 stars: 1000-1200points

My point was: if a car has got 1star or 1.5, then it's average. If it's rated with 2stars then it's better than the average. But now put on the newbies' shoes: they will think that 2 stars out of 5 is a low rank.

Like the ranking thing, but i thought that the stars should be till 10, such that:

0 stars: less than 0.5 of the average showroom reputation
1 star: less than 0.75 of the average showroom reputation
2 star: less than 1.0
3 star: less than 1.25
4 stars: less than 1.5
5 stars: less than 2
6 stars: less than 2.5
7 stars: less than 5
8 stars: less than 10
9 stars: less than 20
10 stars: more than 20times the average showroom reputation

Therefore just multiply the star # by 2... I think that would be cooler, cuz ppl would have a greater range, that would make the thing better(also aiding sparco's point)...

Consideration by admins is appreciated :)

There will be half-stars

0, 0.5, 1 1.5-..... so there will be 10 ranks anyways ;) (well, 11)

ln means neperian logarithm. I'm sure you have studied it in Maths, you are just 1 day younger than me :P

i.e. if you vote a car with a 4, the formula is:
ln (4*10)*5 = (ln 40)*5 = 3.69*5 = 18.44 points.

These 18 points will be added to the car's reputation.

Ya but i think 10 stars would make the person feel better than 5, and 5 stars would make the person feel better than 2.5.... Donno but thats my opinion ...

Yes, but it's over the limited size.

550 in length and 120 on width.
Yours is 149px in width, so you'll have to change it.
