Editing / Removing car parts in NFSU2

Post by 909 »

Without running any trainers or meddling with the winhex code of the game, you might remove spoilers (spoiler hack), and wheels and even mirrors from your car. This is done by simply fooling the game not to find the appropriate directory for the object you want to remove, the best way is to rename the folder. These folders are found under:

%installation_directory%\CARS\

Renaming SPOILER --> removes spoiler
Renaming MIRRORS --> removes side mirrors
Renaming WHEELS --> removes wheels (see attachment)

--------------------
Some things to remember:
Sapphire wrote:You need to rename SPOILER folder in CARS folder to SPOILERX (it is irrelivant how you rename it, as long it is not spoiler)
vellu wrote:No need to restart the game either, alt-tab is enough (and go out of garage/customize and then back again).
- After Alt-tabbing back into the game, you must jump to garage if youre still in free-run mode so that the modification takes place!

One more thing: to get rid of the sunroof (and no scoop either), rename ROOF folder.

And to get any of these hacks to work, some non-stock part needs to be selected.

This all works but, maybe we can remove the traffic this way to if we rename all the maps from the traffic car. I'll try it with the taxi i'll post again if it works

EDIT: It doesn't work free run won't even get past the loading screen

Dragon-of-Rune, even if it did, the cars would be invisible... the game wud just not be able to load the geometries and such... traffic would still be there, just not visible...

oh, and one more thing...

dont rename a specific car folder (while driving the same car) cos after alt+tabbing back into the game produces a crash in speed2.exe (the game executable)

disabling traffic is possible, but not that way, if you disable traffic, then your opponents wont move either. to do this you have to delete/rename all routes files under tracks. if there would be tool to edit those route files, then disabling traffic would be possible whitout disabling opponents.

The glass hatch of the Civic, RSX, 240SX can be removed by renaming the "SCOOPS'' file

Uhm....except that there is no SCOOPS folder. But renaming ROOF does the trick (as I said two months ago in this very topic, even I wasn't the first to discover it...)

I take it that spoilers etc are back to their original state in the game if the files are named originally?

Correct. No need to even restart the game, Alt+tabbing is enough when renaming the folders (and exiting/entering a menu/garage/etc.)

Nice. Its bound to work in the demo. I havent got nfsu2 for pc yet.

In the demo you can delete the whole car body and the wheels and the brakes etc but its dumb as. What I want to know is how to import another car to replace the player 350z. Or how to export bodykits etc into zmodeler for some editing. But this is all uncracked at the moment eh? The 350z in the demo gets boring.

There was a hack last time that allows you to drive an Infnity G35 in the demo. Not sure where the link is, but it's inside the NEWS section if you're willing to search for it. ;)
