Well, to be truthful I don't ride my bike to work if the weather is really crappy (pooring rain, or really really cold in winter (below -25 deg C). Then I either take my T1000 or a bus.

Whoa, it gets cold up there
I drive it on the weekends mostly, with my 5 friends we make ~50km per weekend. Once we went right up to the Slovenian border, one of my best rides I ever did.

This winter the coldest it got around where I live was about -42 dec C (iirc). I think the record cold in whole Finland was about -50 at a place called Pokka (about 150km north of where I live, it's always coldest around that region). Just to clarify things, I live 10 km south of the arctic circle...

As you might have guessed, I DID NOT ride my bike that day, or my car(s). T1000 propably wouldn't even start at that temperature, and the Laguna has a diesel engine which could get damaged. Public transportation is a blessing on days like that.

You mean north pole? Well, still a long way from there (not sure, 1500km or so I think) (plus it's at sea). And arctic circle in scandinavia isn't as bad as it sounds. Golf stream and all that... Arctic circle in Russia or Alaska/Canada is much much worse.

Oh, right, my bikes. I have two of them. A "regular" trek bike 7-speed Tunturi Tango (finnish manufacturer) for my everyday trips and 21-speed Kuwahara Colorado for off-roading. I'll post pics later.

I get two mags in the mail Theyre like shopping order mags. One i lost. It had a golden emblem on it that looked like the Ferrari sheild. They had some bike frame alone costing like 500 bucks... the shocks and rims were well over a hundred...

what do you mean by that, like if you have a license a bike isn't cool anymore?
cause for me I wouldn't trade biking for driving a car...
a friend of mine (some know him here also as Tiff) also bikes and also has a motorcycle (honda VTR1000 firestorm (modded) but he also said that it doesn't beat the kick of going fast on your own power

good mountainbikes come in various prices... from a good starter to a hugely expensive racing/posing bike :D

some stuff about my bike :D

Scott USA Pro Racing

the new price of my bike was € 3000,- ($3750)

but I changed some parts:

this is what it looked like when it was brand new and with 0 KM ridden

http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto=ESK8OH3K

right afI got it in my hands (and after this photo)

I made some changes:
- New front suspension, I removed the stock Rock Shox Duke Race and replaced it with a Rock Shox SID race Titanum for the weight advantage (500+ gram lighter) and it looked awsome 8), the SID had a retail price of 1200 euro when I bought it in 2002 (I had it before I had the Scott.
I also replaced the original Sadle with a Selle Italia Flite TransAm Titanium cause for me the Flite series is the only sadle I can ride on (and the Titanium rail is a nice bonus :D)

a few weeks ago I changes some more things...actually I gave it a big upgrade

- New Chris King headset (red and blue)
- Thomson Elite Seatpost and Stem
- New shimano XTR shifting/braking units
- New Shimano XTR V-Brakes
- Added a Rock Shox Black Box remote lock-out for my front suspension
- Installed my Polar M91TI hartrate monitor (yes also Titanium)
- Installed a Carbon plate on my rear derailleur
- New foam grips instead of rubber grips (softer/nicer grip and 60g lighter)
- Teflon coated inner cables for brakes, gears and remote lock-out for suspension

now it looks like this:

cockpit view:

Chris King Headset and Thomson Elite stem

Thomson Elite seatpost and Flite satle:

XTR brakes on SID race titanium:
http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto=WWTONOZE
Carbon plate on back of rear deralleur:
http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto=IDXW6UIY

at this moment it cost me some money  but I also sell the stuff that was on it... (alot of stuff is sold already cause it is still good stuff 8)

things I got planned for this bike:
- a new wheelset (chris king) cause I want to give it some more color ans spark... and I love the sound of the rearwheel of a Chris King wheelset)
- titanum srews for seatpost clamp and waterbottle cage (and a new waterbottle cage :P) and some other parts
- Shimano XTR fron derailleur

will it ever be finished???? is a project ever finished :P

if links don't show...

click this link:
http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Album=BYCBMSRX
(then I have to work on the link stuff... :D

hehe tnx, there is alot of cool and good and even cheap stuff in the world that is called Mountainbiking... you just have to look :D

the most important thing is to have a starting budget (doesn't have to be so big as you think it does...
the nice thing about bikes is you can easely upgrade them, and you can upgrade almost anything you like, and when you want to 8)

Don't think that I started with a bike like I have now... I started with a bike that costed 350 euro (800 gulden back in 1994)
it was a Trek 800 it was a simple steel bike without suspension and with 18 gears. it was the basic mtb in the Trek cataloge... it was stolen 2 years later on a biking vacation (ironicly when I was just back in The Netherlands... )
at the police station I bought a Trek 830 (same year but slightly better bike)
it also had no suspension but it did have 21 gears. I had that bike until 1997 and in that time I upgraded it abit (gear upgrade to Shimano Deore XT rear derailleur and a other crankset and a other sattle stuff like that)
when I get a chance to scan pics of these bikes I will

in 1997 I went to the US and bought me a brand new Trek 8000 wich had 24 gears (shimano STX RC and Shimano Deore LX) and it had a Easton ProGram Alloy frame  it still did not have any suspension...
later on I bought a Rock Shox Judy XC front suspension and a set of Shimano Deore XT V-Brakes (it still had Cantilever Brakes.. :P) and some other stuff...
I still have the frame of the 8000 but the paintwork is really damaged trough the years...

a few years ago I bought a second bike next to the 8000 but because the paint damage of the 8000 I used the other bike (also a Trek... a 930) more then the 8000 from that moment on I had several bikes next to the Trek 8000 but all where only there to repair and sell them again with some profit... but because I needed parts for these bikes sometimes I started stripping my trek 8000 so in the end I only have a frame left  (ok and some spare parts... )

after a long tradition of riding Trek bikes I bought the Scott, reason: I fell in love with the bike the first time I saw it...

but I still have plans for a other bike by Trek.... (old love doesn't die 8) )
