I like the fact that you can use the Ipod as mobile harddisk. I can carry alot of stuff from my PC to lets say my brother... plug it into the USB port and transfer the stuff in no time to his PC.
and I also got my mobile phone wich has a MP3player, FM radio, digi cam... I sometimes use the player but the radio I don't use really.. I set the channels once and that is about the only time I used the radio... so I couldn't care less if they put a radio on the Ipod or not..
and battary life... doesn't bother me that much I am never away on so long that it doesn't last... and when I am back home I recharge the batteries.
if I go on a long trip I go by car.... so don't need a mobile player... (but then again I am still thinking to install the Ipod in the car...saves alot of CD changing..
)
I only use my Ipod when I am biking (only on the road that is)

You all are stupid. You guys need to walk around with big hot laptops around your neck. I turn my speakers up all the way and play 50 Cents, The Massacre CD and everyone looks at me like I got birds coming out of my ears.... What the matter with you people! Have you never seen some watch DVDs and listen to 1000 CDs on the road before?

I've recently noticed the older adverts for the iPod, where it says "store over 1000 songs" or whatever it was. I doubt you'll be able to listen to about a thousand songs, considering its shoddy battery life.
And a laptops battery is even worse, about 2-3 hours on most? If you wanna stand out from the crowed, then don't get the ipod. iRiver is pretty good. The creative Zen does have a problem tho - there has been news about many people who have had problems with the earphone jack (because of bad manufacturing in the factories). But as long as you don't drop it, it shouldn't be a problem. There is also the Rio, in chrome, which looks darn nice.
Seeing how everyone was discussing about using Ipods, Thought I may throw in some credit for the Laptops, since I use my laptop for music more than I do my mp3 player. Do you see where I am going with this? Good, because you can post all the rolly eyes you want, but it doesnt matter b/c after all this, you still are the one off topic.RiSsA wrote:you post had no significance to anything.... the laptop post...
My laptop has about 50 Gbs of space so its decent enough to give me the equivalent amount of music to an Ipod... Only thing is, Ipods cant watch movies... Or play UT 2004...

Not if you treat the CD's right. And batteries are expensive yes, but not rechargeables like the ones I have.korge wrote:CD player suck big ass b/c Batteries are expensive and Cds break. Ipod have terrible battery life and are overpriced. PSPs... Well.. Save up 250 and go get one. MP3 player have decent battery life and are cheap these days.
I have Rayovac AAs and the life time is short, even if you can recharge them. I only get about 70 mins of play time till it needs to be recharged and it is a big hassle to.Jopuma wrote:Not if you treat the CD's right. I still prefer Lithium batteries in PDAs.. Longer life and Recharable anywhere and even on the go.

Yeah you would look pretty stupid to if you had birds coming out of your ears, but there's no reason to annoy others with your music, this is about personal music.
@ RiSsA I guess you just have to think what's best for you, I personally don't like ipods, I don't like having to go through iTunes to get the songs on there.
But, I think the best choice would be the ipod or the iriver, based on what the Stig said in an earlier post the iPod shows up as an external hard drive as well as the H10. My past experience of creative players requires you install software which is the only way the player will interface with your computer. i have an iRiver I and have found a great help to be able to use my player as a regular hard drive aswell.
There is little to choose from really, I can't speak for iPod but my iRiver has some excellent EQ functions which will no doubt be on the H10 aswell, I think the photo display on the H10 is a nice feature but it's a bit gimmicky.
They will all have very similar playback quality but the iPod won't support .WMA files. .WMA format takes up half the space that a .mp3 file will, so that is a good thing if you have loads of music to put on.
Umm, battery life, well i use my player everyday at work for about 7 hours, I've had it since last September and i can still get about 9-10 hours out of it.
My biggest peice of advice is to set aside some money for a nice set of headphones, if you can afford isolating earphones then this will help save your battery too as you won't have to turn the volume up so much.
Sony make a pair for £25 I think they're called Fonotopia's, but the reviews I've read of them say they are a bit unreliable.
or I use Shure earphones, these range from £50 - £300, but believe me If you save enough money on a player to be able to afford the £50 E2C headphones you will have the biggest smile on your face, cos it's incredible how such a small earphone can make so much sound ( your ear drums will burst long before these loose clarity)
Thats what I think anyway, buy a less exspenive player and spend whatever you have leftover on a good set of headphones

It was in reference to this, walking around with a laptop round your neck would look as stupid as having birds sticking out your ears aswellkorge wrote:You all are stupid. I have $400 currently in my pocket... but if i have to. i can bring out more money for a good set of headpones.. maybe some Bose headphones
Yea im bacially down to 2 mp3 players.. The Iriver and the Ipod. I dont really want to spend $200 on the Zen Micro because its only 6gb... My dad has a old Nomad Jukebox and it has good quality.. but i dont like the size... Now that the Ipod has the Color feature for no more money, its looking very good right now... My friend has an H10 and i love the size... well its between those 2..

Well, just get what you can afford, but after hearing the difference higher-end headphones can make (it really is a big jump in sound quality) I can say I don't regret spending extra. It's a bit of grey area that most people don't think too much about when buying a personal music player. It's like when you buy a really nice Hi-Fi, people can forget to budget for things like good quality speaker cables and wiring.

Thats what I did once... It was hilarious. I returned these awesome DJ headphones on the 29th day.. Said they sucked and they took them back. But they were only around 70 I think..RiSsA wrote:actually i do!I have a job you know... I have $4000 dollars i can use right now in the bank...
