Stig, Get the new update! I had that same problem also.

well atm I got 485 points and 3 awards, basic medic, basic support, basic air defense

so only a few points and I will finally be ranked privat 1st class.

btw the patch works great.. I now got a good choice of ranked servers.
but it took a long time to install

Well uhhh BF2 Pissed me off alot today.
I had won 3 medals and ranked up to PFC.... but it didnt save it....

I would have these medals/awards
Basic Sniper, Basic Support, Basic Anti-Tank, Basic Medic and a award for doing alot of parachutting.... but because of the stupid servers, it didnt "save" my progress. it hasnt saved any in the last 2 days, i still have 477 points, and i had that last week......

Surprisingly, I gave up on BF2.

1. Im not fond of the US Marines.
and
2. The game itself is to arcadey..

So what am I doing now? Using forums ofcourse.

lol. the game is still pretty adictive. but not as much as when I first played it.. it can sometimes be pretty damn hard... to even stay alive for a minute and other times it is to damn simple... like you landed in noobville...

only thing that really bothers me is that my comp crashed 2 times while playing BF2 it simply shut in 1 sec and rebooted...

and sometimes it just goes back to windows for now reason.. the HDD starts to rattle and the screen turns black (flashing) and returns to windows. pretty damn irritating when youre in a middle of a game... and since I installed the update I can't even use single player

damn...... i can play BF2 including all of the modes... I like it because its a game i can play with friends and i can get rewarded with ranks and all.... The only thing i dont like it about is that it should be the Army instead of the Marines.... but thats just me...

I would love to play this game, but I will lag really bad. I run on a Dell desktop 8300, my video card is GeForce 3 or 4? I use SBC DSL (the slowest package) What should i change on my computer that will let me play BF2 with little lag?
