Talk about your country

Post by ^Sparco^ »

This may be interesting and we all will learn new things about other places in the world 8)

I will start:

Spain

Spain is a warm country placed in the west of Europe. Easily noticeable from the space since it forms a peninsula along with Portugal.

We are about 40 millions of dudes (and ladies haha).

The capital is Madrid, whose football team (Real Madrid) is more known around the globe than the city itself! Talking about football, the Spanish league is considered the best in the world, and the Real Madrid is supposed to be the best team. Not everybody agrees on this (i.e. Me! )

Other featured sportsmen are Rafael Nadal, a tenis player who is called to be the next Agassi, and Fernando Alonso who today is leading the Formula 1 world championship. Both of them are young and healthy.

About music, I guess the most known Spanish artist is Alejandro Sanz who has recently made a new song with Shakira (no , she isnt spanish). And who doesn't know these songs?:
Las Ketchup - Aserejé and Los del rio - Macarena? :D

More: I bet you didnt know this: The most important invent made by a Spanish man is the submarine. Here is a photo of the 1st submarine ever, made by Carlos Casado.

The orography of Spain is amazingly varied considering its relative small size. There are lots of beaches and sea it is a peninsula. There is mountain, there is .--- everything. The weather is very varied aswell. In the north it's cold (-5º/+25ºC) , in the south it's hot (+15º/+45ºC). Down there you can breath the African atmosphere!

Spaniards are nice by default :D We don't live for work, we work for live :P The vacations period is often the longest of Europe/world. School holidays last 3+ months!. So we have much free time and nobody thinks of work ROFL! Dude, our whole life is a nonstop party. The kids begin going out to pubs at 14 years old, I used to arrive home at 11pm at that age. Then at 18years old most of guys spend the weekend nights out there till the sun is in the sky 8) When I visited Italy and other countries nbody used to go out there,
Ibiza is the icon of the night party worldwide counting with the biggest clubs and the best DJs specially during the summer.

Oh the Spanish car brand is Seat :P which actually belongs to the VW group. Here are the 4 main models of Seat (they all are called like some spanish cities): Ibiza, Cordoba, Leon, Toledo and the best Seat ever the Cupra GT oh yeah! Cupra GT rules!

Economy: mmm We live better than most of other countries in the world but not as well as germans or Americans do. However, an American girl who is loving here right now assures that life is cheaper here and the life quality is better  Who knows.
The average salary is 1400€/month the minimum legally is 500/month for a 40 hours per week job. Airplane pilots win 7000€/month 8) Houses are expensive, from 150,000€ to 400,000€. New cars are from 12,000€ (206, Ibiza) to 30,000(BMW 330, Jaguar S...) the most common models.

And Im tired of talking about Spain. Your turn!!

I guess I will make a more detailed approch

Australia

Australia Is also a damn hot place (Particualy in the desert  ) It has 7,686,850 km² of landmass, and is the sixth-largest country in the world by area. The current population of around 20.4 million (so much space 8) ) is concentrated mainly in the coastal cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth (where I'm from :D :D ). The capital is Canberra ( A massive hole  ), whose soil is apparently to soft / weak to build decent sized buildings in the area  .

Oh yes, football  . Over here we have a kick-ass game named AFL (Australian Football League), which is very different to the Football other countries have (called Soccer here). And there is also some pathetic game called NRL (National Rugby League  ), which I only just discovered when I moved to Brisbane.

...I'll add more info later

How could Australia possibly be the best place on Earth when Canada's already got that spot? :P (seriously, I'd love to visit Australia some day)

Anyways, Canada, we're big, really big (second biggest country on Earth, and if we could just convince more former Soviet republics to defect, then we'd be set). But, we've only got about 30 million people (the majority of them are in the bigger cities - Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, or very close to them - I lived about an hour north of Toronto).
We have a strong agricultrual and foresting industry, but we've also got a fair bit of manufacturing (hell, my old Intrepid was Canadian built). Overall, I believe our economy is ok (our dollar is catching up with the states, so that's a good sign.
Speaking of the states, they're a huge influence on us, in so many areas (they play a huge affect on our politics, and a big part of the Canadian identity is that we're not American).
Speaking of politics, we're pretty centrist overall (Alberta is hugely conservative though, in the most recent election, only two ridings didn't vote for the conservative party).
I dunno, I'm pretty tired of typing now, so, uhh, yeah.

Perhaps by volume. GM has a couple plants in Oshawa (about a half-hour east of Toronto), that manufacture the W-bodies (the midsize-large sedans, such as the Impala and Grand Prix), and the full sized trucks (I'm not so sure about the SUV's that share the same platform). I think the Vibe is built in Cambridge (because Toyota builds the Matrix there), and the Equinox SUV is built somewhere along the 401 corridor (the 401 is the highway connecting all of southern Ontario, from Windsor, where I live, to Ottawa).

Actually, southern Ontario just has alot of automotive manufacturing. Chrysler, GM, Ford, Honda, and Toyota all have plants here. As for the rest of Canada, Quebec used to have a few plants (the Camaro/Firebird in Ste. Therese, and the Elantra was built somewhere there I belive), and I seem to recall that Volvo had a plant in New Brunswick. Oh, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the infamous Bricklin, which was also New Brunswick built.

I also forgot, Magna (a HUGE autoparts supplier) is located in Aurora (a half-hour north of Toronto, not that far from where my family lives).
