Ok lets break down the katrina issue, 1 the Governor's of the state have total control over the national guard, 2 none of the Loiusiana Nationa Guard was called up 3 the Mayor of New Orleans had 300 or so buses at his finger tips yet they didn't move one inch. 4 the oil "crisis" has nothing to do with president bush 5 the oil companies themselves have been caught price gouging and now citizens are cutting back on gas consumption show the companies they dont run the show we citizens do. 6 bush has been slow because he has alot of stuff he has to work out and anyone whos been swamped knows things will slow down dramaticly. People at fault: Mayor Ray Nagin, Governor of Loiusiana Kathleen Blanco and finally all of the sneaky money grubbing oil companies who really don't need to gouge to keep their finances yet they gouge anyway. It was on Fox News Bill O'Really, he had a guest on that proved these companies don't actually NEED to price gouge but they do anyway. So Bush has no fault in the slow response of the national guard, Governor Blanco is absolutely at fault for the lack of national guard, Mayor Nagin is absolutely at fault for not evacuating the citizens of New Orleans left behind. The Fema issue is Brown's fault, the new guy seems to be handling it like a pro since he used to be a Firefighter. Paulison.

And also..... Ford sells far less cars than Holden (in Australia)

And whats wrong with Jap cars gravedigger?..or is it just that u cant handle the fact that Toyota makes better cars than Holden? :)

Let me see about that...... ummmm..... no

Toyota does not make better cars than Holden, they might make more fuel efficient (and hence the reason for more aussies buying them) cars
but that is only because their motors and the majority of their cars are 4 or 6 cyclinders

meanwhile, both Ford and Holden focus more on their V8's

Don't forget Aston Martin and Morgan!

The fuel issue could also explain why Holden sells more cars than Ford. You probably don't realise that the majority of Falcons and Commodores sold go to fleets. Fleet buyers are only interested in fuel economy, because it will cost less money for their company.

And btw, it's not 'far less'.

that's right..... the FPVs... and Ford Falcons are all petrol guzzlers and have no fuel effiency at all, and they also do not show the actual fuel economy

"And btw, it's not 'far less'."

I should have corrected myself there...... Ford sells LESS cars than Holden in Australia's comparative charts, I do not care about what the export sales or other such crap like that... I only care what happens here

I'm gonna make a long comment short, NISSAN is the ultimate Japanese car company, Mazda is a very very close second. Holden is a GM company,ie AMERICAN. American cars are making a comback, the Ford GT nails all your little toyotas and holdens to the wall. Toyota had the Supra and even then the Skyline killed it so did the RX-7.

We have the Camaro and Trans-Am coming back out. I read the Dodge Challenger might come back. I wasn't pleased with the 06 Charger but what can I do. nothing.

Thats funny you mentioned that, our cars are FASTER and less expensive than yours. 550hp $100,000 Ford GT smokes 450hp $275,000 Aston Martin Vanquish. Sh*t the $80,000 500hp Dodge Viper smokes the Vanquish. Coming soon to a roadway near me the 450+hp Shelby GT500 2006 $40,000 smokes the Vanquish.

You do know that there's other things about than just hp and price.
One thing american cars are known for is they're ability to go straight fast but when it's time to turn they're not so great anymore. So the difference between the prices has to come from somewhere.

One thing foreigners forget is the Ford GT on a track beat a Ferrari's time in every lap numerous time. you are talking about cars from 40 year ago. Most if not all modern american performance cars have the ability to beat anything in a straight line or in a real race.

Well I doubt it, but coz I don't have facts I'm not gonna start debating about it.

As race cars, cars like corvette and viper have been succesfull, but those versions are not the ones you buy from a dealer.

Oh, one thing did come to my mind.
When the first Viper came to the racing circuits it was very difficult to handle coz the backend kept on stepping out in the corners. And that's why those Viper these days have diffusors at back to get more traction. At least that's what I've heard. And seen.

EDIT: To keep on topic: Finland is the country of thousand lakes :P

Oh yes, taking the slowest Ferrari out on a track and being cool that your GT can beat it. Not worth it unless you mention WHAT Ferrari.

You don't only pay for the HP, but for quality and brand too. Aston Martin is CLEARLY a different league compared with the Ford GT. So you aren't cool when you smoke a 250,000 dollar car with your 100,000 dollar car. An Ariel Atom, faster and cheaper than your Ford GT. A cheaper car will completely smoke your GT, but the looks and comfort completely suck.

Another Holland fact:

Smoke pot in Amsterdam.

James, I like the Ford GT but it won't dust any other car! I bet the Pagani Zonda will do good against it.

I have a list of What it can't beat IMO

Murcielago
Mclaren F1
SLR Mclaren
Jaguar XJ-220 (I think its it, the real long-nosed one)
Ferrari Enzo
Ferrari F50
Carrera GT
TVR Speed 12
Clk-GTR

And some others....can anybody name some more my brain went dead just now.

The GT40 beat the ferarri team at LeMans 3 times but not in the first year and not in the second year. Carol Shelby had to give ford a hand (not the first time) to make the cars more relaiable cause in the first 2 years NONE of the GT40's made it to the finish line!

but after the 3rd victory Porsche came along with the 917 and smoked everybody of the track... ferarri and Ford. and set the Lap record, and total distance record. and is still un beaten!

btw James shall I let you in on a secret?

ever watch top gear?
the got a race track and a racing driver... named ..... The Stig :P

here are some lap times, I made a mix of US cars and euro cars and a Jap:

Maserati MC12 1.18.9
Ferrari Enzo 1.19.0
Ariel Atom 1.19.5
Porsche Carerra GT1.19.8
Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 1.20.9
Ford GT 1.21.9 (the New ford GT that is)
Zonda 1.23.8
Koenigsegg 1.23.9
Evo FQ 400 1.24.8
Gallardo 1.25.8
Chevrolet Corvette 1.26.8
Lotus Exige 1.26.9 (and that with a 1.8 with 180 bhp.... :P)
Aston Martin Vanquish S 1.27.1
Dodge Viper SRT-10 1.28.5
Cadillac CTS-V 1.33.3

I tried to get as much cars in the list as possible before people start saying... well... the ... can beat it..

for the full list see:
http://www.topgear.com/content/tgonbbc2 ... s/thestig/

in other words... the Viper Can NOT beat the Vanquish on a track.

Yes I do watch Top Gear, comes on every Wednesday night at 10 pm EST. and yes the GT beats the Murcielago, Clarkson himself quote 212mph for the Ford GT 05. The Viper barely lost though. :P The coupe will probably be lighter therefore faster. Even with 580hp the Murcielgo seems to hang around 205.
