NFSU Survey

Post by Bojan »

Here is a short survey from EA about NFSU rankings.
Since I don't play the game that much I'd like you to help me answer these questions. Write your answers to the questions and I'll send a summary back to EA.

1. What are your general thoughts for the stats tracked in NFS Underground?

2. Did the reputation points encourage you to play more games online?

3. Would you prefer a cumulative reputation points system over a gambling (win/lose) reputation points system?

4. Would you prefer multiple leader boards dividing the elite from the casual game players?

5. Other than game modes, what other types of ranking boards would you like to see? Ie. Skyline vs. 350Z lifetime stats. Or Imports vs. Domestics.

6. What worked/didn’t work with the Week’s best lap time rankings? What would make tracking lap times better? [other than getting rid of cheaters =) ]

1 I like to follow my stats in the overall rankings and see how much I
climbed
2 Not more Games but YES more NFS
3 DOn't get that question... I like the win loss system
4 No there can only be one leader!!!
5 think the Idea is good now... maybe best time overall per track... not
per week. (maybe but is dificult with cheaters)
6 Sorry hardly ever look at the week stats... way out of my league!

7 ask them to get rid of the Cheaters... :D (do as much as possible)

1. I think they provoke cheating even more. I bet alot of the people with millions or even billions of rep points cheat just so they can be listed as a top player. I personally consider spinning someone out a form of cheating, getting ahead at the expense of someone else.

2. Absolutely not. I didn't even know what rep points were when I started playing.

3. I like the win/loss system I suppose. I don't really understand the question.

4. No. What is elite anyways? Everyone should be online playing to have a good time and get better. If you keep all the casual/crappy people segregated then how will they ever get better? It's best to dive right in with the big boys and race til you win.

5. I think car stats would be cool. As well as a comparison mode. Such as the Skyline vs 350. It would also be cool to see how many people are playing online and whatnot. Maybe EA should incorporate something like GameSpy or some type of new server listing system.

6. Getting rid of server lag would help. Lag effects the times. Or just forget it altogether, honestly who cares that much anyways?

3 basically means, would you prefer it that your reputation points were simply added up, rather than losing some if you are defeated in a race
*sig removed for being too big. limitations are 550x120px & 50kb*

I think they're pretty good indicators, without drowning ppl in meaningless numbers.
2. Did the reputation points encourage you to play more games online?
Not at all - rep points had no bearing on it. However I think it must be said, regardless of whether the question was asked or whether answers were discouraged - the ability to cheat online severely discourages me from taking part.
3. Would you prefer a cumulative reputation points system over a gambling (win/lose) reputation points system?
A combination of the two would be good IMO - perhaps two modes that ppl could switch between, allowing you to build rep in one without the danger of losing it, while also offering the chance to gamble with your hard earned rep.
4. Would you prefer multiple leader boards dividing the elite from the casual game players?
Definitely not. As Sp3ak says, it's far better for everyone to play in the one pool. Dunno how my previous suggestion might affect this arrangement tho...
5. Other than game modes, what other types of ranking boards would you like to see? Ie. Skyline vs. 350Z lifetime stats. Or Imports vs. Domestics.
Definitely a good idea. At a basic level, it would be good to see a ranking by car for each mode of play.
6. What worked/didn’t work with the Week’s best lap time rankings? What would make tracking lap times better? [other than getting rid of cheaters =) ]
Never looked at 'em - can't comment there. IMO the overall rankings are far more relevant.

1. could be done much better. later the maximum number of rep points for a win is too low so the rep couter is more of an indicater of how much you race and not how good you are

2. no never.

3. comulative

4. no not really

5. the more the better :)

6. make the ranking longer; lets say to about 100 best times per track, devide forward and backward best time rankings. cheaters are ofcourse a big issue and morphed times by lag.
