Here is the explanation:

The maths thing is necessary to make your mind work. In other words, to warm up your "CPU"

Then, and only then, you are asked to think of a color and a tool. When the human brain is exhausted it tends to find the fastest and simplest asnwer to a question. So the 1st color that it comes to your mind has to be a basic color. Basic colors = red, blue and yellow. These colors are certainly the ones you all answered!

For an unknown reason the seems to be the most answered, followed by the blue.

About the hammer, it's the most known tool = simplest, so the majority of the people answer "a hammer!".

aah that explains why I thought of turquase and a torxscrewdriver

that might be because I glanced at the math questions... but that was because they where mickey mouse questions... was more like this... yeah next yeah next ok next ...
didn't test my mind really...

(I knew it had NOTHING to do with the final question... so basicly didn't want to waste time with it...
and even without all the questions... the majority would answer red and hammer, like you said Hammer is best known and red.. is a primary color, so most will answer that...
But then I am not like most.

oh Sparco the only thing that would suggest we have to answer within 0.0001 sec is the text QUICK! and that isn't much of a stimuly is it? (hate to be told to be quick on my day off

)
And it clearly said think of a RANDOM color!
and when I see that the first thing that hits my mind is the weirdest color that comes in my mind.. in this case turquase...
maybe that explains why I never have stuff like this right

No I followed the rules of it. When I came to the color I just thought orange and the tool I thought quickly as well.
