Mod My Car!!

Post by GT3x24x7 »

Ok, people, let's take this a step further! I need you to mod my RL car!! So far, I've maxed the tint to dark black and since I've just about worn out the original tyres, it's time to honour my promise to myself and ditch the stock rims and fit something a little more striking!!

Here's the car as it looked before the tint went on. Everything else remains the same, well except some little b@st@rd stole the little GT badge from the front quarter a while back... check my avatar for a close up of the badge I no longer have!!

Image

So I hit the shops today and picked up a few brochures, to see what's around. I'm really looking to buy Aussie made stuff, cuz it's a damn sight cheaper than anything imported. I'm gonna step up an inch on the rim size to 17", and I'm also gonna get it lowered to 'stage 1' which fits new springs and drops it 35mm. Don't wanna go lower than that cuz it'd be way too pimp and I don't wanna mess up the superb handling too much..

So, first up, I need to pick some rims. Here are a few I like from the Aussie ROH range - be sure and vote for the one you like the most!! Also, if you have a better idea - feel free to post pics - I'm open to suggestions!! :D

Oh, if you wanna check more of the ROH range, hit 'em here!!

These are just out - I ain't seen any on the roads. What's more, they're made especially for Skylines and other high end Jap racers - especially those with a different front-to-rear rim size. I like em, but they have a huge lip that I'm not sure about...

This is a brand new style, I think it's pretty sick. Might be a little spidery on the car but...

ROH Fury.JPG - good choice. How much do they wight?
I like OZ Superturismo WRC best. They are absolutely my favourite rims, and they are the first thing that will go on my Project Quattro... Have found a decent one in Germany, only 600Eure and a good 2.3lump, but it's been hit in the bumbum.. Well, tough searcing....

Back to yuo, those choices... ROH Drift R.JPG is good as well, but I don't like adrenalin's at all...

If you can afford OZ or something like that, get 'em. They are very light and durable. Oh, and since you like those, check out OZ RECORD - very nice stuff... Again rally, sorry dude. but check out OZwheels.com for info on those. THose rims sexy as hell...

Also, what size are you going for? Would be helpful.

I'd think of respraying the car in blue or something... Skyline style... Or Balck and putting in a dark brown leather interior... Too boring for the RiceMeista? ;)

LOL!! I really was asking for it wasnt I??

UrQ, thanks for the tips mate - I'll go check out Oz. I ain't sure of the weight of these things, to be honest that hadn't occurred to me as a concern. They're alloy, so I don't suppose they gonna be real heavy. Re the size, I mentioned in the original post I'm shifting from 16" to 17"...

Regarding the respray - no dice dudes!! The pic doesn't really do it justice cuz I've just driven about 50km down that dirt road and it's a little overexposed. It's actually a candy apple metal and I just love it!!

I was wondering however, if maybe down the track I might go for a mild bodykit. despite my showroom efforts, I have no interest in really ricing it up - just want something understated ya know? Still I figure that's gotta come after I fit the wheels and get used to the new look.

Oh hey Stig, better get your vote in the Drift Rs dude - poll at top..

Here's the Furys on an Eclipse. Nice huh?

Image

i took a look at your Oz picks UrQ and noticed the the Superturismo has been copied by ROH. Tried also to find a Record replacement (damn they nice!), but the ZR6 is all I could come up with...

ZR6 doesn't even match the RECORD, comon! But Azurro looks good. I just love multispokes, think they are the best in white, on a red/black/metallic navy blue car...

As long as you like the color, than you should keep it. I just don't like candy apple red! :)

I look more on your car, and think that Fury us very nice indeed.

So think on that Azuro...

I'm with stig-stigly on the rim choice. I think the Drift-R's would be best for the car. After looking at the fury's actually on a car, i think they are a bit too ricey to go on a skyline.

Have you considering going 2Fast 2Furious on that mofo and using the rims from the R34?

Pic :D

Edit: Speak - love tha pix - esp #2!! Decided against the 2f2f thang tho - a bit overdone. Did consider the genuine R34 rims, but pretty pricey - all the R33 boys want 'em...

Ok, if you PhotoChoppers and PaintShop Pros can excuse my awful MSPaint skillz, here comes the parade!!

the furys in my opinion. My little brother found these, they would look good on an R32, theyre momo 'fighter' wheels, but the max size they do is 18", and for the widest set, theyre £1500...which is quite pricy. I may also get some new wheels soon, definitely blitz, just cant decide which style

I thinik the azzuro's have too many spokes. I do however like the picture labeled "z1cars" that grez posted. Which rims those are, are nice. Other than that I'd say go with the DriftR's.

People, it's all over and the decision is made. I had the shop bring in a Drift R and a Fury and chocked 'em up alongside the car...

The Fury wins hands down - turns out the Drift R in a 17" has a real odd loopy curve to the spokes that you don't see in the pics of larger rims on the previous page. Urq, I did give serious consideration to the Azzurros, but in the end they were just a little dull, plus I realised that i used to have rims just like em on the old green Cortina that a 'friend' put sideways through a fence with me in the back seat, pissed as a newt!! Bad karma dude... :D

So this is them... ROH Furys in the Black Ice finish. They'll be capped off with some nice lowpro Potenza rubber - not exactly sure of the specs there, but it's a moot point since the laws here state you cannot change the outer diamter of the tyre. The Black Ice finish is another $55 per rim, but I think it's worth it. Hey, the boss gave me an $8500 bonus today, so why worry!!! w0000t!!!
