lol, sorry I kinda forgot

To model, I use 3DS Max 8 - educational license
For rendering I use Vray
For texturing I use Photoshop, Illustrator and a heavy dose of googling

There are plenty of fantastic tutorials, but it depends on what level of competence you are at. I can recommend looking through 3D-Palace.com - they have a fantastic set of free tutorials, but you are required to register, which is free. The tutorials to look out for from 3D-Palace is the chess tutorial, Sci-fi docks tutorial and also the Audi A3 tutorials.

You can also visit evermotion, 3DTotal and google to finding good tutorials.

I have 3DsMax 7, but I just dont know where to start with the tools. So far EVERY tuturail I found was for people who already know the program. It is lame.

lol, erm havn't thought of that... It was originally supposed to be a Heavy Attack Unit aka "Big Poppa" but because I didn't have time to skin and texture the guns, I left them out.

This is going to be part of a bigger scene, it's either going to be a sci-fi army base, or if i've got time and take my thumb outta my ass, then it'll be in a war zone, with dead soldiers, and stuff blown off/up.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Like I've mentioned a million times before 3D Studio Max

@devil_gtr - Good start with the cars, tho you do need to do a little fixing up, just need to put a lot of time on it. There is a really good free tutorial on http://www.3d-palace.com, but ya gotta sign up first (its free) - Have a look at the Audi A3 tutorial on that site, its very good... I used it myself when I was first starting out.

Good luck with the cars. :D

Boo ya. It's not really any kind of car, just started making one one day in Drafting and it turned into this. Kinda like a Z3/Miata.

@Hazmat: Nice start, although you seem to have some smooting problems neer the wheel arc. Pretty good job overall, you gonna texture it, or use some shaders?

@V12: Nice car and that body kit is quite something! Could do with a little fixing up around the windscreen and the vents on the side of the door.

Well Korge has asked me to do some high quality renders of his logo, so here it is, two versions.

I'm learning texturing myself at the moment, but I'd be happy to help any way I can. You got my MSN right? Well if you need any help, I might be on MSN sometimes, but hardly ever

Okay, first question.

I have completed my little chess piece, but when I render it, Its rendered from the side and is really small in the image. How can I render my model from different angles and adjust the size of my model in the render.

Select the viewport which you want to render from. By default there should 4 different viewports - Side, Front, Top and perspective. Click on the perspective viewport and then hit render. I assume you know how to move around the viewports - zoom in n out, pan, rotate, etc..

It didnt do anything. I selected "Perspective", then hit F9 and it just rendered from viewport Front. In your renders, how do you move around and choose how to render your shots?

That reminds me, how do I Pan in Perspective? I only know how to zoom in and out.

hehe.. noob...
