NFSMW Lags and Bugs...

Post by geese howard »

i had an old GF4 MX, and i play this game at minimum efects activated.

For my surprise, a get a GF 6600Gt, and at the minimum config, i had lags, many lags during the race!!!
It´s a game or a driver bug??

Another bug...sometimes the mouse cursor disappears, mainly when i go to the shop...anyone has this bug too??

Thanks for all!!!

Mouse dissappearing is a game bug. there is nothing you can do (use 9 and 0 to navigate).
As for the rest the game is messed up. :?

Did you get the latest drivers for the 6600GT?My setup is near yours (in the sig) and I can play at 1280x1024 with max settings (motion blur disabled).

Unfortunelly, the 6600GT owners have some issues with Most Wanted.

I have an XFX 6600GT graphics card and i get lags too. I don't know what is the matter.

I´m using 82.65 forceware WHQL, 5.07v of via 4 in 1 chipset...i´ll install the game again, and try to increase the game cache in the registry.

I don´t have this problem with NFSU1 and 2....

Do you play at 1280x1024...how many FPS?

Hmm, haven't really checked. It's fluent for the most part (in some locations lags a bit). I'll have to check with fraps and get back to you.

EDIT: After a quick check (@1280x1024/one notch of AA/motion blur disabled) seems to be on average around 23-30 FPS. In some locations drops to about 20.

System being AMD XP 2400, 1GB RAM, 6600GT 128MB AGP, XP PRO SP2, Forceware 81.98

I used to suffer with lags as well (Pentium 4 3.2GHz, 1GB DDR 400 Ram, Radeon 9800 Pro GFX 128MB - I thought at first it was not enough memory on my GFX card) until I made a discovery.

I turned off my Anti-Virus software (making sure I switched off my wireless ADSL router first so as not to leave myself open to attack!) - AVG 7 Free Edition (fantastic anti-virus package IMO, BTW - it's removed viruses from my PC that Nortons couldn't!). I suggest you guys do the same; trust me, it made a hell of a difference.

WARNING - MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT YOUR PC/CONSOLE FROM THE INTERNET FIRST!!!

 To get MW to run smoothly on my X800 XL at anything over 800x600 with settings above minimum I spent days tweaking graphic card/driver features in the registry!

May be you have to overclock the video card. see... i already have an oldest ( more than yours!!) GF-2 MX 400 , my machine is a athlon xp 2400+ , 512 RAM ddr 333 Mhz , asus motherboard . I play the game with da MAX settings i can put in the video settings , i has suffering your problems too and the lags has more than 30 secs during , i have to rewind my damn computer in that situation ..., so i has to play with the medium settings at 640x 480 resolution. go to hardware & software discussion and post your problems there , may be you´ll have more help there...

Thanks for the suggestion, but this graphic card should run this game perfectly at standard frequency...

Yeah that´s an awesome card , but if you wanna test the game with other settings ( imean settings of the card , like : antialiasing , anisotropic filter & anothers) that gives to da game more grafic quality but decrease the performance , may be a good overclock is a good idea , and could be a solution for your lag problem without loose graficquality , or not ??

I overclocked the processor (2000 to 2600+), and the gforce too, tweaking the bios.

But, at minimum config, the game have lags...

Oh men !!!! that is too much power , Why that happens?? , may be you haven´t the apropiated card drivers or.... the game don´t support the card ( Another driver solution ) . 8 years ago , i was changed my voodoo card for a Nvidia TNT 2 ( 32 mb ) , because a game called BLACK & WHITE don´t support the voodoo. Then i has changed my card for my actually G-force 2 mx 400 , and i am actually thinking in a 6800 GT for overclock . :D
Get in into N-vidia page and look for the 6600 drvers mate !

if you have AMD cool and quite or the intel equivalent, disable those options. they seriously slow down most games, and are only good if you do a lot of processing work

And this GF is supported by the game.
I don´t know what to do.
