The Carrera GT is, undoubtedly, the fastest car in the game ... About as agile as the Elise but with a hell of a lot more power ...

The Mercedes-Benzes and DB9 handle like boats.

The GTO/Monaro feel very underpowered even with all ultimate mods and it shows. The Audis were also very weak for some reason ...

The VW Golf GTI was very suprising ... It really didn't feel like it was going that fast, but it turned out one of the best times. The Cobalt SS was another one that didn't feel like it was that fast, but turned out one of the better times.

The 911 Turbo S was only slightly faster than the Cayman/Carrera on the straights, but understeered noticably on the corners, resulting in a much higher time.

I personally found the Ford GT a hell of a lot more responsive, if not better at turning, than the Porsche GT which didn't even come close to a Cayman let alone an Elise.

However, it's not surprising that the Porsche GT would be arguably the best car, given that EA -is- obviously giving Porsche a huge handjob in the last few years (C'mon, Porsche Challenge - an entire GAME about them, followed by putting more Porsches (with optimistic performance) into MW than any other brand of car.), so it seems it'd be obviously to plug the person paying them the most money.

hmm... well this is actually quite funny ^^

Porsche Carrera GT 5:58.93 -> #1 (what i expected)
Ford GT 6:05.57 -> #2 (quite a suprise ^^)
Lotus Elise 6:05.77 -> #3 (i knew it was fast... but this fast  )
Volkswagen Golf GTI 6:08.15 -> #4 (what the hell is this car doing here :p, some among us bought this car as their first car, it ended up 4th place :s)

my conclusion is: wtf? cheap ass cars > expensive cars? (except for the porsche and the ford then)

Wow, you must have been very bored. It had to have taken you 2 hours, if not more, to do this.

When Stock, The Carrera GT is slower than the McLaren...
When Customized (Ultimate Performance Mods), The Murcielago is the fastest. I know that the Murcielago is supposed to be the fastest car in the game stock-wise but somehow the Ford GT settings are not accurate. According to ALL of my researches, the Ford GT and the Lamborghini Murcielago have EXACTLY the same top speed, but if you precisely read the finds, the Lamborghini Murcielago heads on to 205.7 MPH while the Ford GT's top speed is 205.2 MPH. I don't get it. Why is the speed bar of the Murcielago not equal to the Ford GT's in the Cars menu? :(

The Ford GT is a more responsive, but the Carrera GT still took corners faster ...

BTW, the Carrera GT is the fastest car around the Nurburgring (at least out of all the cars in this game) by a large margin in real life ...

#2 ford gt/carrera gt: 390km/h

well, i had some spare nos when i reached the top speed.
with the carrera gt even half of all nos ^^
they just don't go faster!

I tested with the BMW M3 and i got 6.16.99 but had one nasty collision on the way and did not have time to start over to get a clean race. Will do it at a later time to see what time i can get. (NO nos used)

@Ceano: You are comparing drivers, jmac- wanted to compare cars

I've run througth the same kind of test but using a different track (Sprint Clubhouse & Hollis). I choose this track because it's one of the shortest, so I can race multiple times to ma ke an average time per car. I was too bored to finish the tests completely, but what I can say is that the M3 GTR is not so overrated.

Sample times with nitrous, all cars in ultimate config. I didn't note all the times, I've done this just for fun.

M3 GTR ~ 1.37
Carrera GT ~ 1.39
Lotus ~ 1.42
Subaru ~ 1.44
911 S ~ 1.46
Gallardo ~ 1.47
RX8 ~ 1.47
Clio ~ 1.48
CLK GTR ~ 1.48
Murcielago ~ 1.48
C6 ~ 1.48
Golf ~ 1.48
Mustang ~ 1.50
TT ~ 1.50
A3 ~ 1.50
Ford GT ~ 1.51
Supra ~ 1.51
A4 ~ 1.53

Now if you compares with a Carrera GT with all uniques, I've done 1.33 with traffic ;-)

Lotus Elise times should have been faster than Ford GT, at least it is on most tracks, you have to take advantage of the fact that it can take corners faster than the other cars, including the Carerra GT.

Here are a couple of videos that aren't my best, but good enough that you get the idea of how fast the Carerra GT and Elise are:

n9rule.wmv

n9rupgt.wmv

The BMW M3 GTR is just plain slow compared the the Carerra GT and Elise. For example, at Rockridge and Untion, without using speedbreaker, but with using NOS, my best time in the Carerrat GT is 1:33.56, and the Elise just under 1:35. Others have done under 1:33 with the Carerra GT. The BMW is lucky to get under 1:40 at Rockridge and Union.

Maybe your analog stick is hooped ... I've never had that problem ... Only problem I've had is the R2 button sticking, but I fixed that by taking it apart and replacing it with a stiffer spring as well as lubricating it ...
