NFSMW Lags: A Solution?

Post by prince1142003 »

Some CPU are able to operate at different frequencies according to the processing power required. Using a variable CPU frequency may cause the game.
i found this in a readme for a different game, but it got me thinking. what it says, actually makes sense. most games arent designed for variable speed CPUs. so, i tried to set mine to a constant speed and tried Most Wanted. surprise, surprise, the game is a lot less laggy than before. those with lagging issues, you might want to try this.

and, if this isn't where this belongs, i'll be happy to post it somewhere else. i just didn't want to post in a topic that people barely visit anymore.

i used my BIOS's option. if you don't know how to do this, chances are the options are disabled in your BIOS. it's an advanced option that overclockers use to keep their CPU running at maximum efficiency.

Just have background in using your PC and knowing how to use the BIOS.

It should be under Advanced Chipset Features.

Adjusting the cache size should help immensely, especially if you have 512 MB of memory or less ...

I think he's talking about disabling features such as "Cool'n'Quiet" which reduce the processor speed when the processor is operating at less than full capacity to save power and decrease noise.

Yes is think so to, and that feature is only on the newer motherboards. Old MB doesn't use it, so no need to look for it.
