I think I found a bug of sorts on NFSMW

Post by nick2lousy »

My current position on the Career Mode is just before challenging JV (Blacklist #4). I've got the bounty and races done already, and when I'm going for the 5th milestone I get this bug (always). It does not matter if I complete the milestone (I did complete all eight), it does not save it as completed (it is stuck on 4 milestones only), therefore I cannot run against JV... Too bad, I started over with a new alias, and - guess it - the bug is still there... on the same situation. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game already, and did an extensive search on EA website (no luck). Maybe you guys could help me here, please.

Some info about the game& PC:

Pentium 4 HT 3.2 GHz;
4 GB RAM;
ATI Radeon Pro 9000 AGP 4X (64MB RAM) series (lates drivers and Catalyst as well);
Win XP Pro SP2 up-to-date;
Followed EA recommendations so that the only background apps are LOCAL SERVICE and SYSTEM (seen on task manager) plus ZoneAlarm;

NFSMW with Patch 1.3 (yes, I tried it with 1.2 as well with same results...);
More than enough cash & bounty;
A nicely tuned Mustang (got its pink slip from Jade of course) up to the limit by the Career position (still missing most of the Ultimate ones);
no hacks no cheats except for the burgerking challenge (so I could get the junkman parts but have not installed them yet);

Any ideas? Thanks!

hmmm ... is it my graphics card that bad?

Post by nick2lousy »

Probably yes, it is... but my former Nvidia XFX gave up recently and I still don't have enough cash to buy a better one. So I will keep mine old faithful ATI... Still I can run NFSMW nicely in terms of performance, including graphic performance - all particles are there, high details on cars and terrain... It does not look bad at all. However, my post is about a possible bug not related to graphics.
I just reinstalled the game again from scratch and will be back to the same point (just about to challenge JV) by tomorrow night. I'll also post the results that I get - hopefully I won't get the same crazy thing again. Thanks for the reply.

And, guess what?!?!? Same thing! Now I am really mad. I have all the 9 NFS games, and I have never seen something like this. I don't even know how to escalate this problem with EA. Maybe one of you guys could point me out the right direction. Before abandoning the game once and for all, I'll do the thing I like the less: reformat my PC from scratch and have it only installed the game, not even connected to the Internet. Unless you know or guess what to do. Thanks anyway, :evil:

try this:
go into free roam and bring up your map. cucle to events, and look for a white/gold star. if it's there, that's where you need to drive to to challenge the current blacklist member.

i don't know if that'll work, but your problem sounds similar to something i've encountered before

I tried, prince1142003...

Post by nick2lousy »

I tried but no luck, there was no star yet... It seems that I needed to finish the milestones first, which I can not because of the already stated problems...

Well, I did do what I said: reinstalled WinXP, and - guess what - things seem to be working properly now. But it was a pain in the neck , it took me long 8 hours or so to fix the whole thing. As I had a backup of my career, I went there and was able to accomplish the milestones...

Thanks everyone, please consider this thread done.
