I think it's more than just a cellular.. It's a cell phone-cum-PDA. ;)

New Samsung phone

Image

Samsung has unveiled a hard-disk-based SPH-V7900 mobile phone which sports a staggering 3GB hard disk drive. Offering twice the capacity of its predecessor, the SPH-V7900 also boasts two cameras (one with 2-megapixel resolution), dual screens and twin speakers in a twist-flip housing, and the main TFT LCD screen has QVGA (240x320 pixels) resolution. There's also an MP3/video player onboard, and the whole thing measures 103x52x27.6mm and weighs 165g. Samsung claims 4.5 hours of talk and 200 hours standby.

With a lot of other advances in tiny storage from mp3 players to laptops with flash and even a HDD for the PSP, it's no surprise that Samsung is now offering a phone with 3GB of storage on it. When most cells today come with 4mb to 512mb, this is actually somewhat impressive. It's the largest capacity for a cell to date. The first line, dubbed SPH-V7900, also sports a higher quality digital camera than other Samsung models. The price is quite a handful, starting at a whopping $718, but of course with time this will change.

We may soon have phones that can not only take pictures and store media, but also record conversations or much more. Interesting stuff.

I don't think it's important what mobile phone he has.....especially when he happens to live over 5000 miles away from me.

Nah.. It's too over-rated for me. I'm on Nokia 3230. Good enough for me, except for the MP3 quality.. :P

I have a box-alike Motorolla digital star-tac (last model made) manufactured in 1999. Wights half a kilo and if someone tries to mug me, all I have to do is throw it pointing to his head, since it is probably deadlyer than a 357 Magnum at close range. Good thing is that beeing so old, I know how to programm the whole thing (don't tell me I do allso know how to use my super new camera web attached celll phone with intenet access and parking lot, I man programe it to change carrier, phone number, and everithing else).
