Also at there are really cheap 3.0ghz Celerons around, I get the feeling that Celerons are crappy?
Even a 3200+ AMD64 can beat an P4 Extreme Edition in gaming.
Celerons are crappy, they are budget processors.

Right now I have a GeForce 6600.
I'm aiming for a 6800. Will that give me a huge boost in performance? My card pisses me off from time to time....
On a completely different note, how do you run apps at 1600x1200? Mine only goes to 1280 x 1024. Maybe it's my monitor? (17") But on my mom's, (19"), it also goes up to 1280 x 1024.

What 6600 and what 6800?
What kind of monitor are you using?

Unless I put something behind them, they're normal.
AGP, I might add.

How more simpler can he lay it out?
Is it the 6600, 6600GT, 6800, 6800GT, 6800GS
Do you understand what he's asking now?
Oh, and put something behind them.... WTF?

Jesus!
6600 does not equal 6600 GT.
6800 does not equal 6800 GT/GS.
They're NORMAL.
The normal 6600 doesn't have a GT or whatever after it.
Jeez....

So now you tell us which card you have... after what, we explain to you there's more than just one type of 6600
And don't give me any bs about that you did tell us... you didn't
You're not even letting us know which 6800 you want to upgrade to, the 6800LE, the normal 6800, 6800GT, or 6800GS
Whether it's an overclocked graphics card manufactuer.... plenty of details we need to know before offering advice
Oh, and whether your's is a bog-stock 6600 would also help

a 6800 (any model) most likely wont give a tremendous boost in performance. Possibly try to buy a 7600 or a 7800 or even a 7900. You could find a great price probably around $50 more than a 6800

/me reminds Cpt.Razkit that we are talking about AGP 8x cards here, not PCI-E :p
There is one of the newer cards however, the 7800GS is the only AGP version of the 7000series of nVidias
About the 6800, you will notice quite a bit of performance boost from the 6600
Higher clockspeeds, oh an dthe benchmarkings for any of the 6800s bar the LE version were great
But on another note, the 7800 and so cards, use half of the power required for a single 6800

If you already have a 6600, I wouldn't worry about upgrading for a while. It may not be top-of-the-line, but it gets the job done.

I was just asking to clear it up because you could be talking about the 6600/6800 SERIES.
To answer your question: No.

A GeForce 4 could get the job done too.. But aren't we going for some higher settings?

7900GTs are cheap as hell for the performance right now here ... I've found some as low as $325, which is awesome considering they're about equal in performance to a 256 MB 7800GTX with lower power requirements ...
I think I'm going to pick one up for my new computer when I get paid tomorrow
