All EA did was watch some Best Motoring Videos and thought hmm touge....thats interesting, why dont we put it in the next game and call it canyon racing. Im not complaining, i love touge's but why not just call it a touge! whats with these fancy names (eg. tollbooth = checkpoint race)

Those tracks on video looks similiar to ones in UG2 but in NFSC they are waaayy faster! See how fast cars are running trough corners, that is adrenalin what LL was talking about!

I really thought Canyon Racing was drifting to the extremes, feeling the danger. But keep up and get away? That's the boss mode? Huh.

Reeeeeal exciting."

Gamespot wrote:Once you and your crew have managed to defeat the opposition in an area, you'll find yourself in a boss fight that highlights another unique addition to the experience, the canyon race. The canyon races are unique two stage competitions that find you testing your skills against a boss for points. The first leg of the race finds you trying to follow close behind the boss as he races to a finish line at the bottom of a hill. Your goal is to stick as close as possible to him as you'll earn points based on your proximity. The second leg of the race finds you in the lead trying to put as much distance between you and the boss as you tear down the route again. This time out your points are on the line as the boss will be draining points from you, to varying degrees depending on their proximity to you. Your goal is to reach the finish line with some points intact. Though extremely challenging, the races offer the potential for instant victories if you can manage to meet certain conditions such as staying out in front for a certain amount of time or getting a sizable lead when being followed. You can also lose just as fast if you happen to collide with some of the destructible barriers that are set on parts of the track.
That spells Initial D. NFS:Initial D!!!!

If it is so, then okay. But still, I mean, Canyon Racing is really stupid for a boss race if it doesn't provide a real challenge. As someone said, touge racing is about racing down in narrow roads and sharp turns. And I didn't see anything like that. Being supposed to follow the leader down the whole canyon, sounds kind of (a.k.a. very) boring to me. Hope it turns out better than I think.
I don't use pwned. I use BSODed. It's less cool and harder to say. I know.

Larry LaPierre: A lot! NFS Carbon will have Circuit racing, Sprint racing, Speedtrap, and new modes Canyon Duel, Canyon Race, Drift, Canyon Drift, Time Trial and a few others we can tell you about at a later date.

yes, i think you're the only one. if you look at the earlier screens, you'll notice the similarities between the Lancer and the "mystery" car on the left. sideskirts, rims, and mirrors are all similar. the white stuff on the rear bumper can be attributed to smoke.

Oh dear, I'm in the minority as usual. I think I might actually enjoy that canyon racing.

However, all that tail-gating... I think a White Van driver would be good at it :D

Hmm I haven't been here for a while.

I just came back on since I read it on Game Informer. It seems pretty cool, but I really liked the drag feature though (I read it's not going to be on this version). We'll just have to see ;).

ehhh, i can't say if i'll like it or not without trying it. the concept of touge (which this is based on) sounds appealing, but what EA has done is create their own style based on touge. the tracks are too wide and the turns aren't sharp enough. while the concept is nice, the fact that it may just be too easy isn't.

Yeah if the game is going to be completly based on drifting.

BTW does anybody agree with me when i say the HUD in NFS C looks like crap. Why wont EA go back to the NFS HP2 layout that was real nice.

If they ever make NFS a Anime style game I will quit being a NFS fan and will mostlikely put everything I own from the NFS series on Ebay for a Idiotic low direct buy price.
Cause if there is one thing I find stupid it is anime stuff...

Someone said (not going to bother to browse back to see who) that we want cusomisation of U2 back... do we really want that???
Do we want 20.000 roofscoops to choose from while 99% of them are hidious!
Do we really want spnners, hydrolics and all that ghetto stuff that makes your car slower( in real life)???
Or any of the other way to many tuning options that are plain ugly...?? like 99% of the rear/headlights (comon semi covered headlight and weird rearlights)

U2 did have alot of options, true got to give them that, but the majority was simply put YUK!

I agree with you , U2 sure have lots of customization ,but most of them are crap , U1 have lesser parts but the quality is much better than U2

TheStig, I guess I should've put it better. I didn't mean I wanted the exact U2 customisation, just the concept of it. What I mean is, I don't want to select from 5 wide body kits from which the 4 will be hideous, I want to be able to customize my car as I want, selecting each part individually. I do agree that there were lots of parts that nobody would even try on their car, but come on, MW had ruined the whole customisation for us. U1 and U2 gave us Showrooms, gave players the chance to be creative with their cars and show them off. Am I the only one who wants that back?

So, I don't mean lots and lots of parts, I mean the Underground-series concept of customisation should be brought back, changing individual parts, not selecting from a small selection of wide body kits.
I don't use pwned. I use BSODed. It's less cool and harder to say. I know.
