Your City

Post by xturbo »

I was just wondering how is your city? I just want to know more about the world without expending lots of money travelling there.
I'll start showing pics of my coastal city at night. My city is called Valparaiso and its the 2nd most important city of my country.

Bakersfield, CA is the fastest growing city in the U.S., is the world's largest producer of carrots, is one of the world's largest producer of oil, is one of the cities with the worst air quality in the U.S., and has(had?) the highest average gas prices in the U.S. Oh yeah, it's also hot as hell. Not missing much...

Keswick, Ontario is little more than a place where some people who work in Toronto come to sleep. We have alot of ice fishing in the winter, and we gave the world Curtis Joseph (an NHL goalie, I don't remember which team he plays for right now). That's about it.

I live in Denver, Colorado. It's quite a nice place. It's the technological center of the west of the USA. It has places like Lockheed Martin (they develop new missles for war and outer space) and Fit Simons (medicines).

I used to live in Denver, I like it 'cause it snowed. :( Lockheed isn't based in Denver, there's a Skunkworks about an hour from where I live, as well.

Melbourne, VIC.

Image

Supposed to be the most liveable city in the world or something, but I can't see how.
Winter is really f-cking cold, we have inadequate public transport, Telstra has decided to not install a fibre-optic network, we have tight water restrictions, and we get raped by tax evey year.

But, I've been to ther cities around the world (London, Paris, Tokyo etc) and it makes me remember how much Australia still kicks bumbum :D

/me starts singing some bogan aussie song . . .

Dubai is.... well lets see..VERY HOT...about 40 degrees C....

And got tons of tourists....also one of the 25 MOST expensive cities in
the world....got high gas prices...water restrictions...COOL cars!!
But no tax.....It might start.

Worst thing is the temperature ..as I mentioned earlier...so we dont
like out doors very much...in the winter temperature drops to about
26 C....with full humidity...and last for3 months.

yup.... thats all i can think of right now.

I don't live in a city, but the Country Market Town of Farnham in Surrey.

We can trace our roots back to Saxon times, and despite our small size, we've had lots of famous residents, including Mike Hawthorne (Britain's first ever Formula 1 World Champion, and always raced in a bow-tie), Graham Thorpe (England Cricketer - and couldn't we do with him now, the way we're playing in the 4th Test against Pakistan  ), William Cobbett (writer) and Sir John Henry Knight, who owned the first motorcar in England. And not forgetting Johnny Wilkinson, the world-beating Rugby Player lived in Wrecclesham.

or...

From the song welcome to atlanta...

[JD]
Yo, Yo.. Yo..Yo, Yo,
Welcome to Atlanta where the playas play
And we ride on them things like every day
Big beats, hit streets, see gangsta's roamin'
And parties dont stop til' eight in the mornin'
[Ludacris]
Welcome to Atlanta where the playas play
And we ride on them things like every day
Big beats, hit streets, see gangsta's roamin'
And parties dont stop til' eight in the mornin'

[JD]
Now the party dont start 'til I walk in
And I usually dont leave until the thing ends
But in the mean-time, in between time
You work yo thing, I'll work mine
I been puttin' it down here since 83'
Since the Lakeshore show MD rivalry
More froze than bad ice, with a place to be
If you was ridin, you was ballin to homie Shadi
Im the MBP, Most Ballernous Player
Make my own rules, booboo call me the mayor
Monday night, Gentlemen's Club
Tuesday night, Im up in the velvet room, gettin firetruck up
Wednesday, Im at strokers on lean
Thursday, jump clean, and I fall up in cream
Friday, shark bar kyack with Frank Ski, right on the floor is where you can
find me
Saturday, is off the heezy fo' sheezy, you can find me up in one-tweezy
Sunday, is when i get my sleepin'
Cause on Monday we be at it again, Holla!

Oh ya, and if you're in Atlanta at night and you're black... well, let's just say it wouldn't be good. :( I mean, c'mon, we're talking about Georgia.

Atlanta isn't that bad, it has a very high black population, and only blacks hang out there at night. I should know I go to school there, (Georgia Tec. FTW!!!). There are, however, alota of gays there. I think it has the second or third largest gay population in AMERICA

I thought this topic was about showing your city, not about how many black or gay people there are in Atlanta, and what happens to you at night discussion.

Abit of background information about a city is nice, and commenting on pics is ok, but don't turn it into a complete 2 page discussion.

stay on topic.

I really wasn't aware my post was 2 pages. I'll refrain from making more then two sentences in future posts.
