In Just Cause, you take on the role of the flamboyant Rico Rodriguez - an undercover CIA operative specialising in regime change - as he tries to overthrow the corrupt government of San Esperito. This rogue South American island is suspected of stockpiling WMDs and it's your job to negate the threat to world peace. It could be to your advantage that this tropical paradise is about to implode as various factions vie for power - it just needs a gentle nudge in the right direction.

Just Cause offers the freedom to tackle your assignment however you want: play the island's factions off against one another; incite a rebellion among the masses; or build alliances with rebel forces and drug cartels. The incredibly detailed game world consists of 1,225 sq. miles of mountains, jungles, beaches, cities and villages which can be explored by land, sea and air. And you will have at your disposal one of the most varied and exciting array of vehicles, planes and watercraft ever seen in a video game.

I got the demo too...but it kept on giving me a BSOD after they show the first guy. As for the graphics they look awesome from what I saw.

It's an Eidos Interactive game that uses the Avalanche engine, sure it might look like the Far Cry engine, but it's not.

If I remember right this was supposed to be a Xbox 1.5 exclusive game, not anymore.

It was meant to be 360 exclusive also but I think Sony and Microsoft struck a deal with GTA IV being released on the 360 and PS3

It does use the FarCry engine, there was a preview in my pcgamer magazine i got a while back.

no i have played far cry and FEAR with my FX 5200 but just cause demo doesn't even wants to begin the gameplay.

I got the same problem. Had no idea that the Graphics Card was the problem. Blamed my RAM modules.

me too i blamed my ram at first cos i have 256MB, so i got 512MB ram and did not work too.

I ran it fine, I didn't like the gameplay, aiming was very hard and so many people shooting at you, Also the cars handle like crap.

If you have windows updates enabled, try removing this update:

Windows Update KB917422

restart, and hopefully it will run.

I read about that problem on some forum. But i don't have that update installed. If the following could tell you anything about my case and maybe you could help me out it'd be great. The error i get is a BSOD, some 0x0000007. I looked it up on Microsoft's site and that's where i came up with the memory modules failing thing.

My drivers are up-to-date. except that I don't have the ones nVidia released on 2nd Sept. or so.

Hey Skyline_man, the soundcard fix in that link really worked out for me. thanks man. though the game did get past the second load screen it crashed a minute into the game. then second time it gave me more than 2 mins of gameplay

. so am going to try and find a fix for it. thanks again.

There seems to be a problem with the display drivers. Still getting the STOP: 0x0000007F error. Made a minidump and read it in WinDebug. turned out the nv4_disp.dll is faulty. uninstalled and cleaned out drivers using driver cleaner pro. reinstalled 91.47 forceware. but still the BSOD. particularly when I enter a vehicle.

Like when I drop down from the sky i land on the 1st mark's vehicle n enter it. And then BOOM. tried another vehicle and still the same.
Should I be posting this in some other thread? thought it's specific to this game so posted here.

The game's like a kvazi-combination of Far Cry and GTA and it's bad at it. I don't like the game...
