Ok I dont know where else to ask this but I have a creative zen vision m and when I plug it into my computer it makes the sound that hardware has been plugged in but when I go to my computer to open up the media browser, it says the device is not connected. I have tested the usb port with an external dvd, hdd, and printer and it works fine. Does anyone know why it isnt detecting the player, I have installed all the software and even repaired it but all have the same result. It worked with my last computer but for some reason it won't work now. I would call creative myself but it's been more than 60 days and Im not paying $12 just to ask a question they most likely can't answer.

Does it work on any other computer? If not get it replaced or fixed under warranty.

First question: has the firmware on the device been updated to the latest version?

Installing the latest drivers wont help if they can't detect the player due to firmware incompatibility.

Ok, well the last time I plugged the player into my computer was before Sept 15th and I looked at the firmware and the newest date says sept 15th Ill give it a try to see if that fixes it. Also Im using a custom built computer this is the first time Im plugging it into this one, it worked fine on my old computer.

Have you tried a different USB port? My front two USB ports won't work with my Creative, but the ones directly on the motherboard work. Try that and see if it helps. If you use a USB-A to USB-B cable, make sure the cable actually works.

Also, unplug the player and uninstall the Creative software. This should, theoretically, uninstall the drivers as well. To check, plug your device back in after you uninstall the drivers. Now with the device plugged in, uninstall in from Computer Management. Unplug, and install the Creative software. Reboot, and now plug in your player.

If that doesn't work, I think you may just need to contact Creative.

I can't use my front usb ports because when I plug them into the motherboard, the computer won't turn on and I have tested each one on the back and they work fine. And I can't contact creative e-mail with them takes forever and Im past 60 days and I wont pay $12 for phone support. And when I plug in the player and click on the firmware exe it says its not connected even though it is.

I had a simliar problem with my old zen micro, not the new vision one tho... I had to reformat the mp3 player and install the firmware again... of course that will mean mean you will loose all your songs..

have a look at this link

All the songs and stuff I have on my mp3 player is on my old one and in my computer, so I have two backup spots for my music. And if it means doing that then I guess I might have to. I'll try doing a clean-up and if that doesnt work then Ill go for the format option.

EDIT: Ok I have tried the clean-up and it doesnt work and I have also tried formatting it but the media browser still doesn't detect it. So now Im stuck with a blank player, Im going to try and plug it into another computer to see if it will work.

EDIT: I have plugged it into my parents' computer and it is detected and I can transfer things even without the software. I tried other things in the usb ports and they work fine so I don't know what it is. Are there USB drivers or something?

EDIT: I have also tried the front usb ports with my other mp3 player and it works and when I try my new one it doesnt detect it. But like I said my parents computer still detects it and I can transfer files without the software.

Ok guys, I was gonna buy a new gfx card, but my dad says that first we need to know if it is compatible with our PC.

This is my PC:
AMD Athlon xp 2000 1.66GHz
512 MB of RAM

And this is the card I want to get: http://www.amazon.com/Radeon-X1300-512M ... 28?ie=UTF8

It's compatible, but that POS isn't worth the money.

For that card to work, you must have an AGP slot on your motherboard. And if you don't know wether there is one then I need to know what motherboard you have.

You really should go on http://www.newegg.com/ their prices are much cheaper than most places. But also think that if you get an old processor, that it will limit the performance of the graphics card.

It's not that bad.

Getting that processor means you'll have to change your motherboard too.

I'm surprised you're running an AMD64.. Where's your Core 2 Extreme? :P

Never said I was getting it, someone suggested it. And Im not going to change now because that would require me to change motherboards too also the $950 price tag is a rip off for what I use my computer for. And I have an AMD64 Athlon X2 4600+ clocked up to the speed of the 5000+ version.

@weedman

I know you didn't get one. Your rig is fairly new, why didn't you go with the newer Core 2 Duos?
It's better than the X1300.

But that processor isn't really an upgrade compared to your XP. The only good part of it is that it's dual core. You'll have to get another mobo too.

Because, all I've ever used was Intel, I wanted to try AMD, and plus that would have driven me over my budget. But I have $600 left over from paychecks I didn't know I had coming and I am getting another job, so I'll have enough money for an upgrade when I want to. Anyways, my next computer will have a dual socket motherboard with 2 dual cor processors, can't tell which now because by the time I have the money newer processors will be out. Also, whats your opinion on the Xeon processors from Intel?

There's no point in having twol dual-core processors. XP has a two processor limit. Server 2003 can take advantage of the four processors, but I doubt you use that OS. Vista will be able to use more than 2 processors, but it's not even out yet.
