If you want skills like me just keep drawing and practicing until your skills develop

Heres my newest drawing sparked by Jacoja (This sorta thing can go both ways )

This is probly my favourite drawing to date also, especially because it is my car (With a few tweaks) I should have drawn a shadow though:

Image

I usually draw on A4 paper and could probly fit all my drawings on A5 meaning im losing quite alot of quality there. Ive got some A3 paper to try now so watch this space. What size do you use Jacoja? Ive alos noticed you seem to take quite alot of time with your drawings, I usually scratch them up in a few hours out of enthusiasim to see it finished. I wasnt actually expecting this drawing to turn out very well, it was a time passer really.

This is the general consistancy of my Mathematics book:

Thanks, here a new sketch which might just have taken over my favourite drawing. Its a Camaro Z28 and I started and finished it today after school. I reckon the shading and everything turned out awesome but it dosnt really help with it being night now and getting a photo of it was uberdifficult, so the quality is pretty crap, ill take a better shot tomorrow.

Here it is:

Image

Much better looking in person. Still only A4 printer paper.

Wow, great new work from both Dizzi and Tunerfreak . :D

@Tunerfreak; Ha!, Good to hear I have inspired someone in return (as you did for me :P )... and fantastic new sketches you have made of your Toyota. There are certainly noticeable differences in your work which I need to apply to mine. Dunno what it is exactly, but It's certainly missing (Could be the smoother body rendering. Yours seems to have a photo-realistic appearance to it, as though you can tell exactly where the light is, while mine just looks... fictional.)
Since the photo’s of the Aston and the Nissan were taken, I’ve added a few new things… mainly just undercar shadows, and heavier render markings. In two weeks they will be on display in an upcoming art show, and annoyingly enough, a massive smear mark has appeared along the rear wheel of my Murano (Must have been the paper on top 'protecting' the work), which continues on for a good two inches onto the white background.

Looks as though it will need to be redrawn before the show, along with afew other adjustments, including light backgrounds for both cars (in a showroom environment), and square (black) border frames around both cars, with white pencil sketches on each (Mountains for the Murano, and Something sporty for the Vanquish :P ).

Hopefully I will get this one back home so I can take photos. If not, I’ll just take some at the sjhow and post some new thumbnails here.

Well, when I’m just bumming around in my room and feel like a sketch, I always just use a normal A4 sheet. I never really use anything else, unless it is intended for certain projects, etc. :)

Anyhoo, looking forward to seing more sketches Tunerfreak. You may have even convinced me into drawing my car. Hmmz... YES! :D

________________________________________

Edit: Bloody hell Tunerfreak… the new best sketch I’ve seen from you so far, and you actually began and finished after school! In order to draw something like that, I spend many hours of my time using the eraser, and far less time actually drawing. But to get the rendering correct, and the perspective spot-on, in such a small amount of time I cannot achieve AT ALL. Fantastic work on the Camaro! :o

Ive noticed the total photorealism effect works great for most sketches.

The image you seem to have used for the Aston looks like it isnt a photo, meaning you might have to add your own little shading and rendering touches to get some detail into it and when you do it can look very detailed but a little odd because you might get something that dosnt fit together in the drawing. Ive also noticed the perspective on the Aston makes it look a little cartoony (A little taller and shorter) but I have to say the quality and detail of your work surpasses mine easily.

The good thing about using photos is that you have the suns light on it usually giving it a more natural feel when on paper and you can sometimes have trees reflecting etc on your windows which you can use to add detail without 'winging it'. Usually when im drawing and I come to some complex sort of shading like the hood stripe when there are light spots all over it, as im drawing that I find that it looks weird but when im done I see that it fits in nice and the drawing would have looked boring without that detail.

I just sit down with a printed out photo and some paper and draw, I really only use one pencil and a rubber unless the pencil needs sharpened (Dont mind the transformer thingy, its not mine  ):

Image

I dont know if this will help you much and I still think your drawings surpass mine in many ways.

Have you ever thought about making money out of these drawings? Im having a money crisis at the moment and it would be great to sell some high quality drawings, do you think people would buy my drawings if I did them in A3, and maybe even framed them? I really want to get a website to advertise my drawings and maybe my website design, but that costs money itself

Its unfortunate about the smear, I assume you should be able to erase the damage and rectify it? I never really 'protect' my drawings as much, as long as ive got a backup copy on my computer, I still hold my drawings as quite valuble to me and would be really angry if someone wrecked them (As last year someone stole my whole drawing folder in Maths after the teacher confriscated it :( ) Although its great to be able to draw them up so quickly like a pencil rolling off a production line.

Heres a higher quality shot of the Camaro:

I've been up to my own artwork as well. Some of the stuff I've done earlier this year I forgot to post.

Anyways these are in order of being drawn.

The Mustang and the Skyline look the best. You seem to be lacking perspective in most of your drawings, though. Also, don't you have a scanner? *Is blind*

Yeah I have a scanner, but it would take too long to scan it all, size it in photoshop, and bring it to Linspire.

I use a digi cam for all my artwork to as my scanner hates me and has stopped working ](*,)

Jopuma them last four drawings are pretty good.

The BMW:
I cant say im feeling the green flames and the body needs variation in shades rather than flat black, otherwise the proportions are good and it looks nice.

The Stang:
The backwards flames is certainly very unique, again you should try variations in body colour shades and again the proportions look nice.

The Red Car Thing Whatever It Is (Later identified as the new Camaro, thanks Haz, and then later reidentified as the new Dodge Challenger lol):
The shading is alot better and the stripe looks good the front bumper angle is really all I can see that significantly effects the look of the drawing negativly.

The Skyline:
Again it needs some shading and the viynal give off the slightest rice feel but not too much, everything else is nice especially them proportions.

The R35/ G35 Looking Thing:
The proportions need quite a bit of work and it needs shading but its getting there.

Keep practicing and good luck getting better, theres alot of potential there.

Heres the exact image(s) I use to create both cars from my laptop:

Image

Even though they were real photos, some new reflections were pretty much needed for some extra effect. The cartoony appearance (which definitely happened on the Vanquish  ) may have happened because of the perspective I was viewing the paper while I was drawing. I didn’t actually notice how tall the cars were, until I actually stood off my lowered chair and viewed them from directly above. Sounds like a good excuse anyhow :P . I guess I really need to do what you do, and print out a hard copy of the actual picture, rather then just copying from a screen… could help.

Not a bad idea actually. I remember you mentioning last year that some people were offering you small quantities of money to draw things for them. :P IMO, if you create full images with the current amount of detail you use (Perhaps including backgrounds), it may just work. I'd certainly be interested in some sort of display website for finished work... though I haven’t thought about selling work until early this year, when a friend of my dad offered something for a drawing of his Labrador (A show dog, who won a state contest) .

Bugger

Btw, nice drawings so far Jupuma, though there are certainly some parts which need more attention (uneven lines, stripy shadows, etc.)

Ah I see, the photos were taken in a neutral sort of setting. I usually use photos with reflections of trees and road etc to add a nice detailed effect.

I noticed as im going over my old drawings I also used to draw in funny perspective to the page without cheaking overhead enough. I am now in the process of fixing up some old drawings. This Dodge Viper would be the first one yet it still has a few dodgy spots on it that dont look right. Im happy though.

Image

I love the stripes, they add so much detail.

Next up is a Nissan S14 Silvia Aero :)

Also I got my hands on an big A1 or so peice of paper and I might do an ubersupersizedlotsofdetail drawing on it sometime, its not white paper though, hopefully I can get a good image with Photoshop.

How long ago were those (original) sketches made Tunerfreak? Although the Viper looks very odd in some areas, it looks fantastic after the re-render.
How about some before and after shots? :P

Great timing as I have just finished my latest update drawing :)

Behold the Nissan Silvia S14 Aero with one of two of my touches:

Image

(Lemme know if the picture is too big as it makes comfortable veiwing on my resolution)

I was a little more tough on the proportions this time and I love the result, the motion blur on the rims also looks like a great addition to my eyes and OMG what is that  Woo its a shadow this time and it looks great! Its still only on A4 paper but that A1 sheet I have now has the beginnings of a Mazda Rx7 FD3S sprawled across it and one rim complete and I will say so myself that the one rim is looking very bling, I would provide a photo but the paper has proved to be not very photo friendly, ill find a way around this fo sho so you guys can see the progress.

And another slice of cake provided free of charge, heres the kindly requested before and after pictures you requested:

Image

I think the old drawings were done around may this year, meaning it wasnt actually that long ago. I learn fast when It relates to my hobbies.

Great idea getting them drawings up krazyammo

Bloody hell, you just continue getting better and better. That work is just amazing!
The front of that Silvia is up to the point of photo-realism, and the effects on the wheels looks great (and would probably take less time to draw :P ).

Great to see the before and after shots also. Thanks for that :) .
I must do something similar to your RX2. I think I've asked before, but was the colour created by computer, or pencils?
Anyhow, keep them coming. You make people like me jealous :o.

Thanks guys. Ive got an uberbig sized Rx2 image here so you can laugh at the minor mistakes (Optimised for web, only 257kb):

Image

Its all done in crappy colouring pencils and cheap felt pens (I need better equipment) and only on A4 paper.

I want to try them primsacolours ive seen people using :)

If you did that by purely through colour pencils (and pens), it's pretty damn impressive (I'm rubbish at colouring, which is why I constantly use standard HB's for my work).

By looking at the larger image, IMO it would look better with smoother rendering for the windows, and more even spokes for the rims. Some of the outlines look very bumpy also, but it looks like you’ve already mastered that since the beginning of the year. Body rendering still looks great though... and you need to teach me how to draw such fine-detailed headlights like that. :o

Ever considered drawing up a detailed Signature and Avatar? Something I would like to do, but with lack of a photo scanner, the image quality would turn out quite poor. :(

Amazing feedback guys :D

Ive got some shots of that A1 FD3S drawing ive been working on. Heres an indication of the size, the reference is A4 size (Average printer paper):

Image

And heres the best possible image I could get out of the current progress at this time:

Image

Obviously with how well the wheel has turned out getting a better shot when it is finished will be alot easier:

Image

I would make a singiture set from a drawing but I cant seem to upload signitures to nfsunlimited anymore :?

Ive also been wanting to make a drawing tutorial for some time now, maybe I could make one soon.
