By the way, any idea what g_PerformanceLevel is actually in the Carbon Demo key?

I don't use pwned. I use BSODed. It's less cool and harder to say. I know.

changed it to 55, my monitor already has a bright prob .. 1st I've changed it to 70, I was racing in daylight!Skyline_man wrote:i changed it to 50, you can always change it to a different value though.
I also changed those values(blur, vis treatment, road reflection) but ingame options, couldn`t be changed

Awesome find dudeSkyline_man wrote:Guys, you wont believe this, i was checking the registry files for the demo when i saw the Visual treatment option, and guess what, it was already ON(Value = 1), so i disabled it to see how the game will look like without it, and i was shocked when i found it looks much better without it, see the screenshots:
......
Now the game is little bit brighter

one of the things considered in the review is the performance, and we are not talking about hacking the game, we are just trying to solve those demo issues.SomeKindOfMonster wrote:Thought this was a Demo Review thread? Shouldn't this sort of discussion be in a different section? I came on here expecting some reviews about the demo, not some chit-chat about hacking it
and there are about 5 pages or more of reviews, you can read them.

Of all the NFS demos that have come out since Underground, I think this one I got the least excited about. I found playing via keyboard was a lot easier than using my steering wheel (Microsoft Sidewinder). I hope you can adjust the steering sensitivity in that game because I was using the Evo on the Canyon race and hit the wall so many times trying to correct my steering input.

Now that I think about it, I think my sidewinder had something like that. Did you find you had to adjust the sensitivity on your wheel as well for the Carbon demo?BrontoX wrote:@BluePhirePB: I also have a steering wheel (Logitech) and it came with a program that you can adjust the sensitivity and deadzone for a particular game so if your steering wheel has a program also try to set it from there

Here is lots of great stuff for steering wheel (and other controller) users,
dxtweak for example etc. (dont get bothered that its for logitech hardware, theres loads
of stuff you can use no matter what wheel you own..)

Hi guys, i am new to this forum. Just like most of you here i am a big fan of NFS series
Here is my short review of the demo:
Graphic: Nice, I am surpised that in run fine with my old TI4200 although with a lot of option turned off by. Anyway, i am kinda disappointed with the lighting effect. It seems in such a dark environment, the taillight remains off?. It is my gfx card sux or what? default.------------------------------------------------------------------Score: 7
Sound: Decent, especially in the canyon duel, engine sounds are nice nonetheless
-----Score: 9
Gameplay:
1) Circuit -- standard feature of NFS game, not much to complain, it's too easy, maybe due to the default normal AI which cannot be changed in demo.
2) Drfit -- somehow i think this requires some skills to do well, since the car drfits too easily, driving line tends to be very important to achieve high speed + constant drifting. The physic is fake, but it's fun. Afterall, NFS is an arcade game, fun is the most important element
3) Canyon drift -- ahh, the awesome one. Maybe due to the fact i love touge races and watch a lot of Initial D, and BEST MOTORING, this is the part where i like the most in this demo. However, due to the normal AI setting (my assumption), it's very easy. Roughly 15 mins of playing, I can say that 90% i will be able to pass the stupid opponent with either EVO IX or Camero. The problem lies in your opponent driving line in the 2-3rd corner, there is a place where you can drive straight but the stupid opponent will follow the road curve. Whoom, a hard brake and a pass
Hope EA fix the driving line in harder AI setting
----------------------------------------------------------------Score: 8.5
Overall: 8.2

Why i cant increase roadreflection(2 on default),shadow detail(0 on default.)Dragster wrote:Start > Run > "regedit" > "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" > "SOFTWARE" > "Electronic Arts" > "Need For Speed Carbon Demo" look on the right window and find g_Visual Treatment, double click and set to 0
It was set to 0 by default here
Other options i cant increase too, like FSAA..
Visual treatment i can turn off,but i dont want, becouse i like it and the game runs almost like off.30-35fps is enough to me so i wont turn off.

Just got past the 500k mark in Drift mode, and it actually felt pretty exciting trying to handle the car while it wad drifting around corners at such a high speed, no matter how unrealistic. I can only guess how nice Canyon Drift must be.
